I really love this year's SN Oktoberfest. One of my favorites this fall.

Since you are from Illinois, how about Old Style, bet you haven't had that in a while

I don't think 6 packs are where your bang-for-your-buck is. Get a variety 12 pack of Sierra Nevada or something local in your area

There is genesee that makes a lovely AAL as well as a bock and a cream ale. If you buy a 30 pack for lets say 15 dollars you now have 30 beers you cannot drink in one week. Then the next week get something a little more pricey. ( a case of sierra nevada for example) Now you have 12 more beers . Then get a sixer of something really pricey the third week. When the staple beer dwindles repeat this process.

Something to consider when on a beer budget: Growlers.

Get yourself a sixer of Anchor Liberty Ale
Then - the next week, one of Anchor Porter
Then - the 2015 Anchor Our Special Ale should be out

You are welcome! You should be within your budget with these tasty beers!

I second the Genny Cream Ale (I can only get it in 6 packs out west, but when I lived on the east coast I could get 30 packs for $13 -- a great beer for the price range) and the Old Style recommendations. PBR is a good cheap beer choice as well.

    That sounds well-conceived. Thanks, man.

Without knowing your local beer pricing structure I would agree with the SN Oktoberfest. In my area I can get cheap growler fills at various times and would be able to drink very well on 15 to 20.

I think you get Left Hand Distro, if so, Fade to Black Volume 1 has a great taste and should be fairly cheap for a 6er.

Not sure if you get New Belgium there. If not, then anything Sierra Nevada.

This REALLY depends on how much you drink. One six pack a week would get me by, where that could last someone else a day.

    I would choose Born Yesterday.

Perhaps I should clarify: a six-pack or two per week will last me a bit. I very rarely drink during the week, just Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Hmm. New Belgium just reformulated some older recipes they have been making for a long time. Abbey and Trippel. Different malts and different hops. These are both under $10/6 pack and pack a decent ABV wallop. So you can re-visit them for the first time.

I think people forget Fat Tire is still a delicious beer. Always a go to when I'm at a place with a very limited craft beer list.

I would rather drink an AAL. Fat Tire has been near the bottom of my list for the last 15 years.

Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald is one of the best American Porters on the market, and it's only about 8 bucks for a six-pack.
