Sadly, Vermont should be thriving on craft beer/cider tax revenue, but it is such a horribly managed state in terms of free spending, that they continue to put the tax burden on the backs of the property owners. Revenues fell below expectations this year for tourism despite the thriving craft brew industry and all the Vermont beercationers flooding the state.

Alcohol is well known as a relatively recession-proof industry, as sad, depressed and poor people like to drink as much as governments like to tax them.

Sin taxes are popular. Other taxes such as those on wages for new jobs and property and sales taxes reflect growth. We should actually THANK big beer for all their lobbying that has kept the taxes on beer relatively low in comparison to other similar products.
