Grilled with one of those "lime" beers and the food tasted like Bath & Body Works ... seriously.

In the bay I see bud light Platinum and Black crown priced the same as bud light, bud light lime, and bud. Those tow used to be a dollar or two more. I think it's more about taking up shelf space more then anything.

I found the Bud Light Lime very perfume-y, but the lime-a-rita (on ice) was quite tart, refreshing and enjoyable.

My buddy that isn't into craft buys it all the time and I haven't noticed a price drop. Its actually decent beer in my opinion.

I agree. I think some people won't like anything inbev no matter what. I hope someday we come to find out that heady or pliny or something is actually made by inbev or millercoors. the reactions would be priceless.

That would be fantastic lol. I'm just hoping that whenever bcbs comes around here later this year that all the bmc haters leave that "bud" product on the shelf for me!

I have read in a few places that Platinum has been a success, in fact I think there was an article today on CNBC about it.

    Indeed - was just kidding.

I tried the lime-a-rita when visiting the Merrimack brewery with my GF. She enjoyed it, but I found it to have an overly artificial taste.

At this years superbowl the bar I was at had the Black Crown for $2.00 a bottle so my wife and I had quite a few. This beer is probably the best beer Bud has ever put out. ( This bar had no craft beer in it. My normal choice when there is PBR at $2.50 a bottle.

I don't give a rats ass what beer it is; if you find a case of regular beer for $10.99 a case, you buy it and post it up in the fridge for guests. Tell them to drink it all. It basically costs nothing.

“Despite a tough few months for the beer business, overall sales in dollar terms inched up in May, due in part to the new upmarket Budweiser Black Crown's introduction to consumers.

According to Nielsen data, volume of beer sold in the four weeks to May 11 dropped 0.6 percent, but sales in dollar terms were up 1.5 percent, boosted by Black Crown sales, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Anheuser-Busch and MillersCoors both reported a bad month.”

I need the help of a beer business person. My read of the above verbiage is:

    · Anheuser-Busch “reported a bad month”

    · For the overall beer market: “volume of beer sold in the four weeks to May 11 dropped 0.6 percent.”

    · For the overall beer market: “sales in dollar terms were up 1.5 percent”

So, if Anheuser –Busch reported a bad month how could Black Crown be the explanation for the overall beer market having “sales in dollar terms were up 1.5 percent”?

    I just don’t understand this.

    Cheers!

More like the Mexican built (Fenders) are decent but desperately need a good setup.
For Fender it's the Indonesian ones you have to watch out for.
Anything with a Gibson label is made here in the US. They use Epiphone for the offshore builds. The better ones are actually really good, but the cheap ones not so much.

But how do you know he is a phony Vet unless you stop and talk to him? Or is it just eaier to assume so, so you dont feel guilty about not tossing him a couple bucks? Point being...good beer can come at all levels of production. Now, Im not standing up for this particular brew...Ive not had it...but not all good beer comes from two guys mixing up 50 gallon batches in their garage.

It wouldn't surprise me if Black Crown faded into oblivion. AB has a history of doing big product launches, getting a short-term boost, then letting the product flounder. It might hold shelf space for another year or two, or at least until the marketing department formulates it's next big new beer.

Seems like they get more sales $ per volume of BC than they do for their other beers.

For hypothetical example lets say they book sales at $10 avg. for every bbl of beer they sell and they sell 20 million bbls in the first quarter of 2012. Sales = $200 million. In 1st qtr 2013 they end up selling 19 million bbls of beer total but now getting $10/bbl on 16 million bbls and $14/bbl on 3 million bbls, giving total sales of $202 million. Sales volume is down over the prior yr, but sales $ is up.
