Thanks for trying to explain that to me.

What I am trying to reconcile is:

    · Anheuser-Busch “reported a bad month”

    · Your statement of “but sales $ is up.”

If I was a accountant at Anheuser-Busch (and needless to say I am not an accountant at all), I would say that Anheuser-Busch had a good month (ending May 11) since sales $ were up.

Do you see my point of confusion?

    Cheers!

No, just my subjective opinion. I am no way related to AB. These things are constantly being bashed, I just thought it was OK for what it was. Plus, I don't believe that self-proclaimed BeerAdvocates would even try this stuff either, do you?

how many people saying it sucks have actually, you know, drank it?

or are we going with the blanket "macros suck! and i'm safe saying that here because it's BA so no one will doubt whether i've drank it or not" response.

When it first came out local bars had it on special for $1.50 a bottle for about a month...I drank a few during that period. It really isn't bad.

I have not had a chance to try Black Crown yet. I have been on the lookout for it on draft or a single bottle purchase but I have not found it yet.

I have had a number of other BMC AAL beers: Bud, Bud Light, Coors, Coors Light, Miller High Life, Miller Lite, etc. To my palate none of these beers taste “bad”. My personal issue with these beers is that they are flavorless.

I recently found a single bottle of Third Shift Lager. To me it is an AAL with some color and a very, very little bit of caramel taste. This beer did not taste “bad” to me but for the most part it is just another BMC AAL beer.

Lots of BAs use descriptors like: piss, shit, suck, etc. when discussing BMC type beers. How they are able to find flavors (be they bad or good) in these beers is something I am unable to relate to.

    Cheers!

They should just brew a witbier called White Tiara to compete with Blue Moon.

AB InBev already brews a Wit; it is called Shock Top.

    Cheers!

BINGO! And you can bet that once they discontinue it, there will be some other new launch to secure the shelf space, which results in less space for the competition.

I'd buy it for that price. I'm sure it's not all that great, but I bet it wouldn't be a terrible option for a party.

The 1.5% value growth is for the beer category overall (or the part of the beer category that was measured), whereas the volumes for ABInbev/MillerCoors dropped. It doesn't say if the value was up for these two companies but if it was, then I would think that the report would have been more upbeat albeit noting the lower volumes. So it is likely that value was either down or flat for those two companies.

The fact that value was up overall across the beer business is likely due to higher prices overall, with Black Crown only contributing part of this increase. The continued growth of (higher priced) craft beer combined with price increases from the big guys and imports probably adds up to the overall increase in value, whilst sliding volumes for the big guys explains the loss in total volume.

The fact that Black Crown was the only factor mentioned as an explanation for the increase in value is more difficult to understand however. I'll chalk it down to lazy journalism :stuck_out_tongue:.

I cook with Olive Oil, but I wouldn't drink it. I think lousy beer is great for brat baths.

I am a sales/merchandiser in CT. Black Crown and Platium are both selling pretty good up here. The mail in rebate program has helped. Lime-Rita/straw-Rita are both selling like crazy. How are overall sales in Texas going?

Actually, I have given something like this serious thought. They have canned food drives, but you obviously can't donate beer. My thought is for communities to adopt a frat house (21 and over only of course) for people to donate bad beer to. When you are in college, people will drink ANY beer.

The sign said "case" but it could have been a typo...I'm in Wisconsin, so A-B could just be deep discounting it here to mess with MillerCoors (who dominates due to the Milwaukee connection).

I enjoy a Budweiser, especially at a ballgame on a warm summer night, with a hot dog and mustard. Things I may not have at home, but at a baseball game? Definitely. It just fits.

That being said, I tried Black Crown when it first came out. It is sweet, and metallic in taste. I don't hate Inbev, or AB for that matter. I grew up with Budweiser many years ago, and it will have a small place in my heart, that does get smaller with every good beer I add to my list of experiences.

Black Crown is a god awful attempt at "Beer" sorry, it is true, put this crap out of our misery, and brew something that tastes at least a little like a real beer. I am not "hip" I am not "cool", and I sure as hell don't want to be "gangsta". For God's sake, how about trying to use a hop, instead of advertising about one? Or maybe make a good beer and release it?
