I am going to Buffalo with my wife later in Sept and was looking for a place for dinner that has decent beer, good food and good atmosphere. A place with great beer and lousy food won't cut it (although you can let me know where they are too). Atmosphere will be used as a tie breaker (E.g. Historical building downtown will beat a strip mall location in the suburbs). I look forward to your suggestions as I have looked at about 6 places on-line and could use help picking out the best. Thank you fellow BA's.

Well if you want a "strip mall" food location I think youd be happy with the beer selection at Pizza Plant

I think your best bet would probably be The Blue Monk.

Another vote for Blue Monk ( and they have poutine !)
Pizza Plant in Williamsville has good beer selection and pretty good pizza. They also have Cantillion, Mexican cake and others in the fridge behind the bar.
Santoras right next to Pizza Plant has good beer (52 taps I believe) and food is always good. Outdoor patio to boot.
While in the area head into East Aurora to Aurora Brewworks. They and Premiere Gourmet have the best selection of beer to take home with you. Both sell singles too.
I vote against Buffalo Brewpub. Meh on the beer selection and food is only fair.
Liberty Hound definately comes to mind too. Great food, great beer selection and right on the waterfront. The naval battleships are literally 100 yards from here . Wife and I do appies for dinner there when we go. The tuna nachos are downright awesome. Pan seared tuna, won ton chips, wasabi and pickled seeweed to load up on the won ton nachos. I think this trumps my earlier vote of Blue Monk

If you are going to be in the Niagara Falls area, check out Griffons pub

Plus 1 on everything mentioned too

Blue Monk and Coles are my favorite.

Pearl Street has a cool atmosphere, and it has a downstairs deli. The beer is mostly mediocre, but their Street Brawler Stout is pretty good.
