My wife and I are going to see The Darkness at the Paradise and we've got a hotel in Cambridge for the night. So I have a couple of questions:

1.) What time does the kitchen close?

2.) Is the food as good at the Cambridge location as it at the Boston location? I am assuming it is. I really just ask because I was very impressed with the quality of ingredients they use at the Boston location.

3.) What is the estimated cab ride time and cab ride cost on a Saturday night, around 8:00 PM
from there to the Paradise (967 Commonwealth)?

4.) Any idea what time the kitchen closes at Lord Hobo?

    Thanks in advance!

I actually like the Boston location better. I had a bad server in Cambridge, he was a dolt. To me, it's seems the crew in Cambridge is trying too hard to be different....didn't care for the attitude.

Lord Hobo has a late night menu. Cab from Allston to Lord Hobo/Bukowskis will run you $20 and about 15 minutes. Food same at both Buk's.

If you're weighing your options, Hobo has a better tap list, better food, late night menu, and takes credit cards. I'd have to be staying upstairs from Bukowski's to even consider it.

Nah, the decision's made, it's Bukowski's. My wife has really wanted to try their peanut butter burger for a while.

Fair enough. You can certainly do worse.

We may hit Hobo after the show.

Buk's has the best beer selection in the city, especially the Dalton St location.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion...even when said opinion is complete and utter lunacy.....IMHO...

When visiting the Cambridge Bukowski, be prepared for music loud enough to mess with your ability to communicate with the server.

This can be maddening if you suffer from tinnitus, as a good 1/3 of the people living within a five-mile radius of Bukowski do.

i've only been there once, but it was pretty loud. was impressed by the tap list and the food though. edit: re: tap list on fire, bukowski's cambridge is where i got founders sappy slappy bastard, and cask allagash black, which is one of the best beer nights i've ever had.

i agree with the poster above that lord hobo is the best beer bar in the city (while CBC has the best beer in the city). that said, the beer bars in boston are so good that i would let tap list dictate my choice rather than which bar is better.

I agree that Lord Hobo is the best in the city. Truthfully, I'd prefer to go there. But my wife is jazzed up about this Peanut Butter Burger and the fact that they have her favorite, Flower Power, on tap. I could put my foot down and say Hobo, but it's not that important to me.

Hate on the truth I spit but at least my bar is actually in Boston. Just because the T can get to a destination doesn't make it in the city of Boston. COUNT IT.

Since you can easily walk from one to the other, you can visit both. :sunglasses:

I don't want to get in the middle of your "which boston bar is better" debate, but to be fair, I am talking about the Bukowski's in Cambridge, not the one on Dalton St.
