Probably won't happen before the show, as we don't have a lot of time and what little we do, I'd rather not spend walking to a new bar/getting a table/waiting for our server. With that said, I think a trip to Lord Hobo after the show will be in order

I know, the debate is over anyways. I hope you and the misses have a wonderful time. The Peanut-butter burger is great!

Crazy...I had the Sappy Slappy Bastard there, too. They also had the Newaygo County Cherry on sometime around then. There was a stretch a couple years back when they would get those Founders one-offs, although it's been ages since I've heard of one popping up.

Not to confuse myself any further, but what are you thoughts on Deep Ellum? If we started there, the Paradise is just a short (less than 10 minutes) bus ride away.

i like deep ellum (i also really love the taco place next door... that tomatillo sauce or whatever it is they have--the non-habenero bottle--is so good. i think it's owned by the same people, and usually has some good beer). my best friends live in allston, so i've been many times. if you can sit outside there's lots of space, but otherwise it can get a little crowded inside. i'm not a big fan of their food, but it's not bad.

It's a simple burger with peanut butter on it. A frozen burger and chunky Jif from the grocery store will probably taste the same. There's no rocket science involved with stoner/drunk food.

High prices with small pours and seeing "white trash" and "fuck" all over the menu doesn't appeal to me. I had Slappy Bastard at Sunset years ago so it's not like they are really one-upping any bars.

Deep Ellum/Taco Bellum is where you want to go. Much closer to the Paradise And they have a nasty bourbon list right now, or what's left of it.

Personally, I'd recommend Deep Ellum over Bukowski's. I like the vibe, service, selection (generally) and especially prices much better. The food I've had hasn't always been the best, but it's not bad--for food though, I'd probably give Bukowski's the edge. But for the whole package, it's Deep Ellum by a mile.

That is a pretty solid tap list. I've been there multiple times and have never been impressed with the list, and it was outrageously priced. But that list is nice. Lord Hobo's right now is excellent, and if your wife likes Flower Power you should blow her mind with a 16 oz. of Sculpin for $6.50 after the peanut butter burger .

I hear 'ya. Honestly, it's more of a running gag at this point. When we started dating (almost 7 years ago) we had talked about going up there to get the Peanutbutter burger. So at this point, it's more of a gag. I could make it in two seconds, and I'd probably make a damn good one. But at this point, it's more about having a couple of laughs.

Fluke, time to get over it. This guy is just trying to have a nice night out with his wife and you need to keep pressing non issues.

Easily the worst comment on a BA forum ever.

Providence, I truly hope you and your wife have a nice time.

I've only skimmed this thread but do you work at Bukowski's?

Nope, but your post has nothing to do with this thread, kinda wasting everyone's time. All I'm saying is I hope Providence has a nice time, why can't you?

According to the Lord Hobo menu, which honestly lists prices, a pint of Haverhill's Sassy Rabbit is $4--one of my favorite things about LH is the line dedicated to rotating Haverhill Tap beers, always for $4. According to Bukowski's website, they are also serving Sassy Rabbit. They list neither the size nor the price, but my guess would be 12 oz for at least $7. I'd be curious to hear the size and price if anyone heads to Bukowski's--this would be a rare apples to apples comparison.

When did I say he I hoped he didn't? I was just asking since you seem pretty up in arms about defending the honor of Bukowskis. Also if people have the time to waste on BA in the first place I don't think my once sentence post is going to hurt them much.

No need to make this about you and me. I think we can all agree...I hope providence and his wife have a wonderful evening.

Ha ha ha, ok everyone, thanks for the information. I appreciate that everyone wants me to have a good night. At the end of the day whether we pick Bukowski's, Deep Ellum or Lord Hobo we're going to have fun.

    Take care!
