I've revenrec been biybuy hops from Yakima valley in 8oz and pound packages, no older than 2016 crops. Looking in their sale section they have a pound of experimental grapefruit from 2014 for $8.

Anyone have any experience with those hops or using hops that old?

When I've received from them they've come packaged nicelt....air tight and no sun exposure.

I also buy in bulk from YV. Several times I've talked to them and they assure me all inventory is kept sub-zero. My results have been good, but I've never bought anything over a year old.

Personally, I wouldn't use 3 year old hops if they were free on the fear they would ruin a brew cycle. What are you saving . . . maybe a few bucks? Compare that to cost of the other ingredients and the aggravation if the hops are less than optimal. With a pound of 2017 Centennial available for 15 bucks it's an easy decision for me.

I’d almost buy and use them for the experiment of using old hops that were stored properly. Smash ipa just to play around maybe.

Just ordered a half pound of centennial and a half pound of El Dorado. Planning on a NEIPA with those and some Azacca
