I will be heading to Burlington on Friday April 3rd and spending the night (I think we are staying at the Hilton), and going to a party in Shelburne on Saturday. I think I have everything covered but wanted to post this to see if you had suggestions on things to do Saturday during the day in Burlington....

We are driving up from CT and my plan is to stop at either Worthy Burger or Three Penny on the way up Friday afternoon - based on the reviews it looks like you can't go wrong either way. Friday night I am hoping to have dinner at Farmhouse, would you need to make a reservation for a party of six?
Maybe breakfast Saturday at Skinny Pancake? Where's the best place in town for a breakfast burrito?

Not sure what the plan is for Saturday during the day however I know at some point we will be making our way to Shelburne and stopping at Fiddlehead for some tasters and growlers.

Really looking forward to spending time in Burlington.

Thanks in advance for any input....

There is a Hen of the Wood in Burlington. I've eaten at the Waterbury one and it was excellent. Would have to imagine that the Burlington one is just as good. Would def recommend.

As for Worthy Burger vs. 3 Penny, I love them both. I would say the burgers are a little bit better at Worthy, but not leaps and bounds. Maybe base your base my decision on what is on tap when you're there, but it doesn't look like Worthy publishes their tap list online, at least not that I could find. I suppose you could just look at untappd to see what's getting checked in that day. 3 penny keeps it website up to date for drafts.

My favorite breakfast spot in Burlington is Penny Cluse Cafe. There are a lot of other folks who will tell you Sneakers in Winooski is the best spot. Can't go wrong either way, but just be prepared to wait.

Good move for Penny Cluse line is put your name in (be willing to take bar space to save time if available) then walk over to Uncommon Grounds on Church St for a coffee while you wait.

This thread is making me want to take another weekend trip to Burlington very soon...

Hen of the Wood in Burlington is excellent. Great food and excellent beer list. We shared a bottle of Backacre Golden Sour, which I highly recommend seeking out if you enjoy sours; I even passed on a bottle of Cantillon with dinner in favor of the Backacre.

    Penny Cluse is boss.

Hit sneakers early sat morning then head over to the beveragewarehouse for 10 o'clock heady drop. Farmhouse will be packed on a Friday night typically 45-60 min wait, put your name in and head downstairs to the parlor and start sampling. I'm not sure what the reservation policy is but I'd give them a call and try

Farmhouse takes reservations for parties greater than 4 and only for the first seating at 5pm.

Owners of Penny Cluse opened a place right next door called "Lucky" and are happy to caffienate you while you are waiting for your seat(s) at PC.

    Saturday afternoon Pine Street Crawl.

Start at Citizen Cider, next Queen City Brewing, then Switchback. Magic Hat is right on your way to Shelburne, and of course, wrap it up at Fiddlehead

Hit the pizza place in the same building, it's delicious and you can BYOF (bring your own Fiddlehead)

A nice break from the seven and eight dollar DIPA pours at local bars.

Will there be a line for HT?

    Farmhouse is overrated and overpriced.
Tap list is usually good (but nowhere near as good as when it first opened), but the food has gone way downhill in quality and up in price in the past year or two. Would recommend eating elsewhere and just drinking at Farmhouse.

Hen of the Wood is great, American flatbread is good pizza and beers.

You won't find lines for HT anywhere :grinning:

What about Beverage Warehouse? Don't they always have HT lines? When you can just drive one exit south and walk right into Healthy Living.

Ditto on the votes for Worthy Burger, Farmhouse and Penny Cluse. Penny Cluse gets a little crowded at breakfast time so be prepared to wait. Worthy is the best burger in VT IMO and the craft beer selection is pretty top notch as well.

Will HT still be available Friday afternoon at any of the stores in Waterbury or Stowe or do they sell out in the morning soon after delivery?
Also, for the release at Fiddlehead Saturday...do you think they will sell out before 4pm?

Fiddlehead usually sells out of second fiddle early afternoon. Between 12:30-1:30 is cutting it close. For friday deliveries of heady, i have bought a 4 pack at the liqour store in stowe around 2-3 and most of the smaller stores in stowe that get smaller shipments were sold out.
