After my last brew I realized the burner I am using, which is a turkey fryer, isn't cutting it anymore. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good burner that will maintain an even temp?

    Thank you!

What size pot do you have now and is there even the possibility of increasing your kettle size? Does it need to integrate into your existing stand?

Also, what constitutes "isn't cutting it anymore." No snark, just curious what you're experiencing.

figured I would need to explain myself a bit. We are using a 10 gallon pot, we are hoping to increase our kettle size to 16 gallons soon. Our problem is that the burner doesn't evenly spread heat across the base of the pot. The center can sometimes be 10+ degrees hotter than the out rim. I don't have a stand so that isn't an issue just looking for a new burner that will put out a more even burn and can handle a 16 gallon pot when we eventually upgrade.

    Thanks for the responses!

I use a 15 gallon pot on a Blichmann burner. It is worth getting a pot with a heavy, clad bottom to evenly distribute the heat. The nice thing about the Blichmann is it can be solidly attached to a base, as shown. Cheers!

i'm another blichmann burner fan...the blichmann costs a pretty penny, but over the long haul to me has been well worth it. Watching guys brew with bayou burners (my old self included) I realize, those do a great job heating the surrounding air...blichmann really dialed in the settings and you can tell because it sips propane and gets up up to temps in no time.

Blichmann makes great stuff for the most part, but if an upgrade is in order, the most bang for the buck is a NG burner (if you have NG available).
The burners don't require a separate regulator and < $50 at a restaurant supply...oh, almost forgot, NG is usually 1/2 -1/3 the cost of propane

Thanks for the advice guys! Blichmanns looks like a great choice and is totally within my budget.

I bought this a few years ago and never looked back. You'll need to either build a stand or adapt your existing stand. I got the natural gas version. If you don't care about the price of fuel and you enjoy the adrenaline rush you get when you occasionally run out of gas mid-brew, it's also available in propane . WRT the burner not cutting it, that won't be a problem.
