racked my badass Burton ale 2 or so weeks ago. Now the top inch of beer is dark like a gun stock. I figure it's going bad,but my question is is this oxidation?

Looks like oxidation, at least from what I read

A Burton Ale might benefit from a small amount long term...be patient...although it sounds like you've brewed others that were not "dark like a gun stock". Did you use WLP-023, WY 1275, or WY 1203-pc?

Nottingham, never had the beer turning dark from the top down in the secondary. I believe the culperate was me racking 4 gallons into a 5 gallon carbon. Had a big beer loss due to super active ferment. Did not follow my own advice of splitting the wort into 2 carboys.

I'll make another batch next week and watch this one since it don't smell bad yet
