Inspired by Martyn Cornell's most recent blog post, about this year's release of Young's Winter Warmer, a Burton style ale (on cask at The White Cross in Richmond), I think it would be a good idea to drink a bit more Burton this autumn. It's a real shame there's hardly any about, and, other than Theakston's Old Peculiar and Fuller's 1845, it's not so easy to locate what there is.

Orbit in London have apparently made one, to be released next week (though the description doesn't sound too promising). There's also Marston's Owd Rodger, but I never see that anywhere but occasionally in B&Ms.

We have Mild in May, so why not Burton Autumn? It's a perfect autumn drink! Who's in?

I'm in, but like you say there isn't much around.

The next beer I'm going to homebrew will be a burton, roughly based on one of Ron's old recipes . It'll have a few more hops than the modern versions though

Old peculier (on cask) and 1845 are two of my favourite beers. I've never seen 1845 on cask anywhere though :-(

1845 on cask would be what dreams are made of. I'm not sure they do it though.

What a travesty. I shall badger Fullers and if they don't cave in I'll petition parliament.
