I've been meaning to post this for a while and just wanted to see if anyone could elaborate or share ideas on this proposition.

With the AB-INBEV/SABMILLER drama going on, it kind of hit me that craft beer should be it's own conglomerate. Think about it:
I would assume the big boys in craft beer (Sierra Nevada, Dogfish, etc) could somehow bring in enough capital to follow roughly the same model as the macros. Craft beer is getting bigger, but with our own conglomerate we'll be able to have the same feel of a craft brewer, especially since they wouldn't dare to change what they have been doing for 10-40 years. This could also end the GMO problem since these breweries could possibly invest in farms that make grains to their specifications.

What still does not convince me is that some breweries would not join in because that would not be considered independent. Also, I don't see how some breweries even manage other breweries if it gets to the point that it becomes a chain of brewer owning brewer.

The only way this could happen is if the craft big boys could maybe swing a deal with Craft Brew Alliance which currently is 32% owned by AB-INBEV and see if they can cut loose and go from there.

It may sound crazy, but the beer still stay in the respective breweries and craft beer with rule the world. I tried to not make this long but I'd to share it and see what people think. I did have a few Pale Ales when I wrote this but it kind of makes sense haha. Cheers BAs!
