    What size/type of wrenches/tools do I need?

I use an 11/16 inch wrench to break down my ball lock kegs. Just a regular wrench, although specifics could vary by keg manufacturer?

I use socket wrenches. Depending on the keg manufacturer, a ball lock post could require either a 11/16" or 7/8" wrench. And if you happen to have a gas post with that 'star' configuration (instead of a hex), you'll need a special 'star' socket. Normally, that star socket will also work with the hex-shaped liquid post (on the same keg) too. But a hex socket won't work with the star* post.

*Star may not be the word. But if you have one of these posts, you'll see what I mean.

A 12-point 7/8" wrench works fine on a star shaped post. That Craftsman wrench that
michaeltrego recommended is exactly what you need.

I have the one that michaeltrego mentioned, works great.

Guy in my club makes these, not sure what he would charge for shipping, but $12 is hard to beat. Has a star on both sides, 11/16 & 7/8, even works on the super small posts too. Has a screwdriver for removing the stem and poppet from the QD or for depressing the poppet on the posts, and a mini wrench for the hex nuts. Just got one for my new kegs, works great.

One tool that comes in handy is a fine mesh colander, to avoid losing the small parts.
