Every (decent) place in Danbury has it (and atleast 1 or 2 others).

At Fairgrounds, it's in the coolers in the back, maybe 4 doors from the right, in an area that all cans.

Thanx. I usually forget about the coolers in back. The last time I didn't forget, I picked up a 4 pack of Gandhi Bot.

Yeah, you gotta check the coolers every time.

Also, about a 4/5 minute drive from there, I found a hidden beer bar in a pizza place (not My Place). It's called Stanzioto's (might be off on spelling). It's on Mill Plain road next to WCSU's Westside Campus and accross from Stop n Shop. 4 taps of REAL craft and everything is served in pints and is $6.50. First time I went in, the taps were: Breakfast Stout, Stone 12/12/12, a Thornbridge IPA, and Palo Santo. I find $6.50 very fair to great for a full pint of those.

It's a decent gateway beer. And I like a brewery that doesn't take itself too seriously.

FWIW... There are great breweries that have very mediocre tours, and there mediocre breweries that have great tours.

I hadn't heard about the Cooperstown purchase. I liked Cooperstown when I first moved to CNY, but then nothing every happened. To my knowledge, they've bottled exactly one new beer in the last 8 years. Maybe that will change now.

Go there, it's an interesting setup with decent beer. I don't understand all of the bashing that Butternuts takes, they are producing beers that fit with their philosophy and business model. I personally don't like the Porkslap and IPA, but I wouldn't say they are terrible. I really enjoy Moo Thunder and the Hefeweissbier, and I can't be alone if they're distributing to 14 states. Also, if you visit the tasting room they'll have stuff they don't can on draft, and who doesn't like trying limited beers? Are they going to absolutely blow your mind? Probably not, but take it for what it is and make a decision based on that.

I knew they bought out Coop, but didn't know they opened a brewpub at a golf course. Next time I'm back to NY to visit family I'll be sure to stop in. Depending on the the time you have to visit breweries and how far you're willing to go from Cooperstown, you could visit Good Nature in Hamilton which seems to be getting favorable reviews, and close to Cooperstown is Council Rock. I can't speak for their beers, but why not check it out if you can!

The Hefeweizen and Moo Thunder are drinkable.

Thank you all for your input. And perhaps I can put Council Rock and Good Nature on my circuit.

I find the ginger taste of the Pokslap to be pleasant & unique. Heineweiss is decent for what it is.

There's absolutely a spot for Butternuts in the craft beer market, proven by their market coverage & expansion.

Spot on with this "local" preference bit. My colleague is making a growler run there tomorrow. He much prefers Butternuts to Ommegang, which he deems too pretentious and " too big for the neighborhood." I went to a local bar this evening and had to share a pitcher of Labatt's (I know... I know...) because everyone's favorite Butternuts brews weren't in stock. That was very disappointing.

Narragansett brews are pretty good for the price.

I like the Moo Thunder as a good milk stout in a can. Good for tailgating.

Wow tough crowd! I have bought their variety 12 packs 3 or 4 times. Great for stocking the summer cooler in cans. Not a bad beer for the price. Then again I like BUD. To each his own.
