Does a brewery's track record matter when it comes to purchasing beer?! For example, will you buy a beer by a certain brewer just because they made it, no matter what it is, or do you find yourself branching out and trying more of the new, littler guys who may not yet have a reputation in your mind?!

Absolutely. Short of checking the internet as I browse an aisle, I really have no way of knowing as much information as I'd like about each and every brewery or beer on the shelves. It definitely helps seeing a beer from a brewery I have had great success in the past with.

Example. Loved Uinta Baba Black Lager and Hop Nosh. Saw Detour (their Double IPA) and bought it without any hesitation.

If it was from a brewery I had never tried before, I most likely would have passed it up, unless it came highly recommended to me by someone.

    Both.

Also, will almost always buy new Stone stuff that comes out.

Both. I'll try pretty much anything put out by Sierra Nevada, Lagunitas, Stone and several others but I also like to seek out new stuff.

Both, don't know how I feel until I try it. If I've had one great beer from someone I'm more likely to try their other beers but some days I'll just branch out and try something new. I won't say no to a brewery unless I've been burnt by at last two of their beers, Ie bad taste or low quality to high cost.

I am actually the opposite. I have a list of breweries that I typically stay away from, because I've thought their offerings I've had in the past were, meh at best.

Only for a couple breweries. I'd say the only two breweries I'll purchase something from, even if I know nothing about the beer, regardless of style, is Victory and Jack's Abby.

I've made it a point to branch out more, but I will still buy anything Great Lakes and Ommegang put out.

There are a few breweries out there that have earned my trust and from whom I will buy literally anything that they can put into a bottle/can/growler, regardless of style or whether I have heard of it. This trust has to be earned though, and Lagunitas lost it recently. I still like their beer, but I won't buy just anything from them unless I have a better idea of what I'm getting. It is also important to note that the scenario in question accounts for a very small percentage of my spending on beer. I buy a lot of what people refer to as "stand-bys".

Both. I enjoy trying new breweries and do so whenever possible. However, once I have had three or four offering from a brewery, I start to develop a sense of where it falls in my personal rankings. There are a few breweries where I will try almost anything they produce. There are also a few that I stay away from because I found the beers to be generally mediocre.

Personal experience most definitely influences my purchases, good and bad.

Does this concept not apply to most product lines??

    Way too much overthinking here....

Sierra Nevada, Brooklyn, Anchor, and recently Great Lakes no reviews needed. I do get burned once in a while. Last week I picked up the 4-way IPA 12 pack from Sierra Nevada and did not care for any of the 3 new brews in it.

I'll buy almost anything from Stone, Sierra Nevada, and Victory. At the same time though, I enjoy trying beers from different breweries despite what others have said about them.

Yes a good track record does outweigh the unknown especially if pricier beer is involved.

As far as trying new beers, especially without being able to do the research to see its ratings.

Breweries that I've never had before, I try and buy small singles for the first one if I can
Breweries I've had and enjoyed before, I'll risk a 6 pack or 750 on the first try

Both. I have certain breweries that, within the realms of my tastebuds, I'll try anything they make, but I also am always looking for new adventures.

Both and if I purchase a beer from a brewery that I end up not liking, then I will be very hesitant to try another beer from that brewery without a recomendation.
