I know that Amazon is launching real grocery in limited markets in the US, but I just stumbled across something by accident on Amazon UK. I had gone there to see if I could find anybody listing a Cantillon shirt and mistakenly searched their name under all categories and not specifically under clothing. What it brought up was a listing for their 375 gueze-lambic for what would be the equivalent of about $7.50 here. And the seller is listed as Cantillon themselves and clicking on that brought up the following three items listed under grocery on the Amazon UK site:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/s?ie=UTF8&field-keywords=Cantillon&index=grocery&search-type=ss

I suppose the purpose of this post is mainly going to be to see if any members in Europe have done any beer purchasing off of Amazon, as I am sure that delivery to the US of such items will be prohibited from a European seller. It is possible that we could see this here someday, because if anybody can get certain laws changed regarding shipping of alcohol if they really wanted to offer this here, it would be Amazon.

Nice find. Maybe it might happen here. I hope so.

The seller is not listed as Cantillon, but BeerHawk. If you look its Amazon page you'll see it sells several brands of beer.

Anyways, some US stores already ship beer. I can't see why Amazon couldn't if it really wanted to. I guess it just doesn't consider beer a big enough market for online shopping that could make it worth to bother with every state and county law regarding beer shipping.

Amazon (U.S.) is already in the wine business, so beer is a possibility.

Given how much trouble they went through to open Amazon Wine, though, it wouldn't surprise me if they weren't rushing to expand into beer.

You are correct. I saw the "by Cantillon" with a link to a product page, thinking that it was the seller offerings, but it is more like a brand link. My bad.

But as far as the fact that Amazon US has not yet started this, isn't really an indicator that they will not. The whole grocery launch is much further behind in the US, just because of the vastness of the US market versus other markets. I only just received an email alert on my Amazon account that they are just now launching Orange County (where I still have an address, hence why I am getting solicited for it). For logistical reasons, the whole grocery launch is really going to be years of development into markets in the US, so fighting the individual battles regarding things like beer sales becomes a lower priority than just getting the fundamental aspects of the grocery product sector live in at least all major metropolitan markets.
