I'd say that perhaps it should sound a bit ominous given what is potentially at risk for the individual.

Although enforcement in PA currently tends to focus on "bootleggers" intending to buy a lot of alcohol and then resell it in PA, there are instances where a casual buyer who bought it for their own use has also been stopped, required to pay a fine, and had their alcohol confiscated. Also, although not recently, a few have also had their automobiles taken away by the state police whose job is enforcement of alcohol laws.

In a slightly similar situation there is at least one instance I'm familiar with 2nd hand from being around this site where a fairly large multi-member beer club in PA that was engaged in sharing cases of beer was shut down when it was discovered that the coordinator of the club would buy cases for sharing out based on member requests and then afterwards accept their cash payments when they came to pick up the beer. Although no one was making any profit on the transactions, money changed hands after the the beer was purchased from the licensed retailer. The club coordinator, who was not licensed to sell beer, eventually also lost his job after the bust that shut down the club.

Could be they changed the law and it's not listed yet. Pa was like that, I shipped in beer from France 44 2x a year to my dad for Father's Day and birthday, then one day they said no mas, and so it is. But there's a reason they don't want to take your money and make a profit, I'd guess they're on the do not ship list. They risk severe penalties if they get caught, so if you don't trade you'll have too if you want out of area beers.

Try Craft Beer Kings - they claim to ship to all states except Texas, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Pennsylvania, Utah, and Massachusetts according to their website.

I've done it in the pass, and just bought some brews a few months ago. Shipping is what gets ya, so really get alot, or your moneys worth of brews.

    Cheers!

That's funny, people used to call me Big Tony (or Big Dago) a long time ago

Yes I order on-line, yes shipping is expensive...I only do it a couple of times a year, so I don't mind

I was just looking around and wondering this myself. Seems like this past year something happened for shipping into NY. A lot of places won't ship to NY anymore that did in the past.

I'm going to order some Furious for the beach from france44. The shipping is just whst it is, if you trade for beers your still going to pay to ship your beers. So IMO it's a wash in that regard. So nothing for nothing it's a business, and the states that are ship to states are declining. But I still order every now and then especially for Abrasive in season.

I work at a beer store in Virginia with an online store that ships. We use UPS and just charge the customer exactly what UPS charges us plus the cost of the packing materials but there is a $5.50 charge when an adult signature is required. We don't actually make an extra profit from the shipping part of it so for us its the same as selling beer in the store.

I have many times, but lately have been taking a break from it since they amount of new beers that have come into my area has grown ridiculously.

Shipping is what it is, all depends on what you consider value and convenience worth to you.

I can only think of one place that has gone downhill since ordering from them many times in the past, but most places are very solid.

If what you want is not in your area, you have 4 choices. Trade, buy online, travel or have someone do it for you, or do without. It all depends on how bad you want it and what you're willing to do to get it. Just like everything else in life.

I did a sample test order to see what shipping rates would be like. Added $35 worth of stuff to the cart, hit calculate shipping and it was $45! Yeah, I won't be ordering from them anytime soon. Of course this is the problem with any online beer orders--the shipping is murder.

I have purchased beer online and have never been charged that much for shipping. However, I was going to purchase beer from a certain online store but the shipping for one case was about $34, which almost half the cost of the case, so I passed.
