Are there any opinions on where in NYC to buy craft kegs? I have a kegerator in my apartment and bought my first keg for it about a month ago (1/6 barrel) from New Beer Distributors, but my experience with them has been mixed so far. They seem to have a very extensive bottle selection in the main area of the store but don't seem to want to sell individual kegs. In fact, the women at the desk will outright lie to you about not having any kegs available. Fortunately, the first time I went there an employee was willing to take me to the keg room and so I picked one from their stock (Brooklyn EIPA). At that time, he gave me his email address and told me to shoot him an email the next time I needed a keg, and that he'd possibly be able to special order one if he didn't have it in stock. Sounded great! However, I have not been able to reach him by email since, and the women continue to lie about kegs, so I am compelled to seek out other options. Is there anyone living in the NYC area who would be able to suggest a place to buy a craft keg? Other area distributors seem to be more focused on macros (at least from what I can see online), so if anyone out there has some information on where to buy quality kegs in NYC, please let me know! Thank you!
Barrier Brewing self-distribute. A buddy of mine gets kegs there. I know it's outside the city, but it's only a 30min train ride (plus you may have a car). And maybe they'll even bring the keg into the city for you when they're making their deliveries. But I'm no expert, so I don't know if they're allowed to do that or not. Anyway - a great brewery.
I'm already planning to have a keg of Bell's Oberon for my annual 4th of July party in Brooklyn since they'll be distributing here by then. I hope to revisit this thread.
