    Hey gang,

I'm heading to Hill Farmstead on Thursday and I wanted to try and grab a case of Heady Topper as well. I've never purchased from Hunger Mountain Coop before and had some questions.

Their website says they start selling at 8am, and can typically sellout between 1 and 3 hours. People start lining up an hour before. is this still true? I'm unfortunately coming from Boston and probably won't be able to get there until 10.

Would I have better luck driving out to Burlington to get a case on Thursday?

    Thanks a million

I went in August and they sold out by 8:15. I got there around 7:15 and was about 50th in line.
Not sure if it will be more mellow since it's not Summer, but I'd be there by 8:00 to guarantee a case.

I went back in April and got there a half hour before they opened and was 30th in line. Ate breakfast there as I waited and was out the door 5 minutes later after they began to sell the cases.

I went to Stowe with my girlfriend in mid July and grabbed a case at around 10/10:15 on our way up. Only 2 cases left on the Uboat though, I was pretty lucky. Would suggest showing up earlier to the coop to really secure your case if that's the store you're shooting for.

Always be aware of any beer/music fests in the region, too. Cases sold out extremely quickly the Thursdays before July 4th and Magna Ball this year.

In August I left the North Shore at 4:00 a.m. and got to Hunger Mountain coop at 7:00 a.m. I was 31st in line. I figured: better safe than sorry

Always a roll of the dice. There in early September was #50 at about 7:45 Two weeks before all cases allocated before open. If you're going to HF anyway, stop through Montpelier. I would guess it will take an extra 30-45 mins. Hunger Mtn has plenty of great beer other than Heady....

Went to Hunger Mtn in August, got there around 7 am and was 30th in line. Started letting people in at 8 am, had my case and was out the door by about 8:15 am. Line did get long quickly after I arrived and was easily over 100 before 8:00 am.

I went 3 weeks ago. Plenty left at 9, but that isn't always the case. 10am might be a little risky. Try to leave a little earlier to be sure. It was selling out insanely fast at the end of the summer, seems like it slowed down a little now.

It's a holiday weekend too so that means everyone will be going to VT to buy beer and look at leaves

Hunger Mtn. is the most southern HT retailer, and closest to northbound tourists on I-89. Any holiday weekend, expect early, long lines. Or, head farther up the highway to more northern retailers where the crowds spread out more.

Went two weeks ago - Was 34th in line with a 7:20am arrival. He still appeared to be handing out the numbered tickets as the doors opened & sales started right at 8:00am

go early. I went up in June and the Heady delivery, which was supposed to be at noon, had come early and was long gone.

I went in April and got there 15 minutes before opening and had 20 people in line. My friend went over the summer later and missed the boat. That's a long drive for no Heady.

Set your alarm clock a lot earlier than that if you want the Heady... If you're going mainly for HF just ride 93 up instead and accept you won't get the Heady.

Hunger Mountain is the most well known seller of HT cases along with the Bevy in Winooski. It's the place most people advise you to go. It's the easiest place to get a case if you can be there on time because you actually know the time they're going to sell it.

It's really hard to say when is the best time to pick up HT anywhere because while there may be a window that the delivery will take place, there is a lot of variability in how big the demand will be on any given day. Holiday weekend or a fest taking place? You probably need to be there when it is delivered. Regular week day? It might stick around a little bit longer. Only a few have set times. Most will tell you the window they expect it if you call ahead, which is what I would advise you to do. That's the best advice I can give you.

I've called that store in the past and I've been told to be there by 8:00 am to get a case. I got there by 8:45 am and literally got the last case. This was winter 2014 - so a long time ago - but figured I'd chime in.

Likewise, left the North Shore at 4 AM this past weekend and got there at 7. The better half and I were 16th & 17th in line. Pretty sure 140-ish allocated tickets / cases were spoken for before 9.
