I am an out of towner and love Pliny the Elder. I have purchased it online a few times in the past from websites that will ship out but have not had any luck lately. Can anyone direct me to somewhere I can find this again? Thanks BA's!

Why not trade for it and other Russian River beers?

I actually threw up an ISO last week. Got a few replies to which I replied and haven't heard back from them since.

Based on various areas in california, Pliney is almost as easy to get as a standard american pilsner. I over exaggerate this of course a bit but it still sits for at least a day when it comes into town, at least here in SD at the places I frequent. I would not recommend buying online but as Koger mentioned, a trade would be easier.

I can easily pick up 3-5 plineys a week if needed. I just found better and leave it for others.

The local Whole Foods is my go-to for Pliny whenever I'm anywhere in California. Seriously.

Whole foods, Total Wine, or any random bottle shop that has "Liquor" in their sign that sits next to a BevMo.

    Those guys at Plaza...damn...so awesome.

Out of towner to what town? Your taste in beer is rivaled only by your specificity.

Exactly. Your from Illinois your looking for the most sought after IPA in the world on the Pacific Forum and instead of giving specifics of where your going to be or other comparable options you just give a blanket statement about wanting Pliny and need direction. So from someone from the beautiful city of San Diego I will give you direction. Pliny is a great beer but is not even near worth the hype or the search. If your in Diego drive your ass to Alpine and go to the Alpine Brewing Company and ask for the maximum of every IPA they have. Every IPA they make is better then Pliny and it's easier to find if you have access to the brewery.

Just find someone to gopickitupforyou at the brewery and send them some thank you beers. Comes in a nice 12 pack ready to drop in a box with packing peanuts.

Is he visiting California? And whereabouts? Or is he looking for a place that sells and ships it to him?
Pliny is almost a forgotten word these days. Yes it's still a good beer to drink once and awhile. But I wouldn't go out and seek for it. Alpine IPA's are still good. . . .and still worth driving down to get bottles and growler fills. But we are seeing other great west coast ipa's in the coolers these days. And that trend will continue in 2015 and beyond. So for the newbies who's just now learning about Pliny. . .good luck.

Dang, much easier in SOCal than NorCal then. Outside of Santa Rosa, it still sells out within hours with most places a 2 bottle limit. But yeah I usually pass also unless I have an upcoming trade and need some extras

    Better THAN Pliny.

    Oh, and Alpine BEER Company.

    That is all.

    (Good advice, however!)

Seems a bit odd to ask people who get local, albeit limited, distribution where to buy a beer online.

Sorry I used to purchase it online quite frequently but the sites I've used either don't sell it anymore or are always out of stock. Was thinking maybe someone new of a shop that would ship but maybe did not advertise as such. Thanks for the responses. Cheers

RR is know to stop allowing places to carry their beers for doing things like not storing Plinius cold or selling it online.

    This.

The shops that do get it would not dare to sell it online for fear of losing their RR account. And I can guarantee you that there is a long list of places that would gladly take over that account spot. While Pliny is good, there are a lot of other/better options out there, but getting in RR consistently will easily bring in new consumers. Thus RR account == gold to some of the smaller beer stores.
