Don't sweat it, it isn't that great. You are able to live without it.

I strongly suspect that this is a joke reply but...

The way that Shangy's 'manages' the release of Hopslam is quite the thing:
    • They will only sell one case per car so no car pooling allowed.
    • Shangy's clams that the retail side of their business sells the most Bell's beers year round so they allocate the most cases of Hopslam per retailer to their retail store
    Cheers!

It is a disappoint for sure. Another local bottle shop I frequent has a frequent buyers program, but they still had the rare beer up for first come, first serve when it came out. The bottle shop that treated me bad does have prices below average, I just can't stand to be treated with no respect. If I ask a question or request help, he'll just sit at the counter, staring at his phone, and grumble a response.

Fortunately, our grocery stores do have a great selection. I also have a few other bottles shops to choose from, all with pretty good service, some with excellent service.

Also If people think not buying a couple craft beers of a conglomerate the size of AB inbev will hurt their bottom line, they forget about the billions of people who buy their macros regularly :grinning:, Inbev's real income comes from bud, bud light, stella ect... not goose island. GI is nothing more than a grab for a bigger share of the market and people who try to boycott them are on the loosing end of this battle.

Indeed. I think it's hilariously naive to think a single persons spending has any real impact. I understand people not buying their products on principal, but the fact is that it changes absolutely nothing.

While I agree, I also think it's a bit toxic to generalize like this. No doubt, AB inbev makes a stupid amount of money per year, and yes, one person is not going to impact that much. However, if thousands of people stop buying their product, would that not make an impact? Isn't that what has happened for them to try to snap up more of the market?

I'd tell him/her to kiss where the sun don't shine and never return to the store.

Well then in all honesty were doing worse when we try and boycott them, You say dont buy AB Inbev and AB Inbev says lets buy out more craft beer companies...

I think this is much more a problem with the individual bottle shops than it is with AB Inbev. Some stores don't do this and still sell enough GI to get some BCBS the next year... so the simple answer is dont shop at the individual stores perpetuating this practice. The individual bottle shop owner will feel that sting more than AB inbev will.

True. I just figured we do have an impact. Obviously, craft beer drinkers have had some impact for AB inbev to feel obligated to buy out craft brewers. I do hope no craft brewers I enjoy get bought out. Then again, if we're purchasing their product, they shouldn't feel the need to sell out either. Ideally.

I think they just want their name on everything, After seeing their superbowl commercial I really don't think they respect the community. With that said, while I enjoy my crafts and will continue to enjoy them but some days call for throwing down a couple stella's when with friends and I definitely have a couple macros in my fridge.

Supporting craft beer doesnt mean we have to boycott conglomerates. It just means we have to keep running back to craft in the end because we know its better and more enjoyable in the right enviroments.

Less heat on the retailer and more on the big guys forcing this into practice.

It's a TOTALLY shitty way to go about it, that's a fact.

Two sides to every coin though: They only have enough left for you to buy a month after release due to the amount they were allocated and no one flocks in for the Goose IPA so when they have a chance to make a buck and move the stuff you snub year long to wait and cherry pick the BCBS take it like a man and use the 6er as fridge beers, or get up early on Black Friday and get yours, don't wait a month..

I couldn't agree more. There seems to be a thirst for $$$, not exceptional beer, from AB Inbrev at the end of the day. It's a dangerous, greedy path. At the end of the day, I'll pick the beer I want because I'm spending my money. 98% of the time, that's craft beer. Occasionally, I might pick up some GI or Vanilla Porter from Breckenridge and support the big dogs. I wouldn't say I go out of my way to boycott them, I just don't enjoy 99% of what they offer.

Meh, just tell them it's a pretty piss poor policy and you won't be shopping there again. A while ago a shop near me that has a pretty shady history, was requiring you to buy $10 worth of beer from them before they would let you buy a single bottle of zombie dust.....for $5 and only a single bottle limit. Haven't bought from them since.
