never seen this in CT or NYC, but BCBS sits on the shelf here anyway.

    definitely a lame practice.

nah, demand was at an all time high maybe in 2010? 2011? sat on shelves before that due to the price, then eventually the craft beer boom started kicking in harder than their supply could keep up. didn't sit on shelves anywhere then, and it's not due better allocation. people would have snatched it and traded if so.

I haven't run into that yet, more often limits on buying rare beers. It seems like if they want to make it more exclusive, why not just straight out raise the price, rather than make you buy other beers you don't want to buy?

I think in terms of all practices and policies, folks need to remember that you have the right to vote with you dollar. This goes beyond beer.

The sooner society realizes we have the strength in numbers over any business, the better off we'll all be.

Stop shopping there. And, tell the owner you are no longer going to shop there. He may not care right now to lose one customer, but maybe when his entire business sinks due to crap policies he'll think about you.

Good customer service is hard to find these days, almost anywhere.

I agree with your overall point, but don't you think extortion and terrorism might be a tad over the line? I think sleazy is a strong enough word for it.

Terrorism was a bit extreme, so I will stick with sleazy and extortion since extortion best describes the act of people being forced to buy beer the place isn't moving for the "privilege" of buying one BCBS. It's a sale where the store makes profit, not a privilege like freedom of speech.

A couple years ago (2013) I asked a local liquor store about BCBS and he told me he had the full lineup regular, coffee, barley wine four packs and Proprietor's , Backyard Rye bombers but I needed to help him out and buy a GI 12 pack.
So for around $125 I walked out with Black Friday's beers on Thanksgiving day and gave the 312(12 pack) to somebody that enjoyed it. Win Win Win.

Most places near me usually have a $$$$ limit on the rare beer, Like you need to spend $60 dollars or more to buy Firestone Walker Parabola and so on.

At the end of the day the choice is yours, either buy it or don't and try your luck somewhere else. It isn't the only bottle shop in town I'm sure.

That's actually not even the worst of it. One shop by me gets Heady and other hard to get beers in and says you have to buy 6 bottles (22oz or bigger) to buy ONE can/bottle of the rare beer. And I believe the Heady was $10 a can.

I believe selling Heady in a state where it isn't distributed is a no-no as CA is a 3-tier system.

Definitely! I've came upon a couple package stores that in order to buy that rare beer you would have to buy another beer mixed in that pack.

For example, in order for me to purchase that Ghandi Bot (it comes in a 4pk), they would take 2 cans and add it to a 4pk of Sea Hag. On top of that, jack up the price by a dollar or 2. As if im not getting robbed already.

It all depends on how bad you want it and if you're wilking to accept it.
