It's not that it's too much, it's that it's more than you need to spend. I agree with the Belgians in this thread, do a trade instead of buying from a website. The beer is pretty inexpensive to buy over there, and if you use USPS you won't spend any more on shipping than the website is charging.

I traded with a Netherlands resident and it went great; I compared what I received to the cost had I bought it on belgiuminabox, and between the beers I sent and shipping, and I saved about $80. Added bonus is that I was able to help him procure beers on his wishlist that he would not have been able to get otherwise.

It want be diffucult to find someone in Belgium who's willing to send you some bottles of Westvleteren when you can send some bottles of Spencer Trappist Ale which is not available in Belgium.

Ehh. Stick with St. B Abt 12. I hear it's very similar. I wouldn't trust that site, unless i used paypal, or a gift card

I'm also pretty sure you would have to pay additional duty fees for importing it.

Yeah, that's about when I bought from them too. My review, 2005, then I added another note or two 2 years later and they were selling them for $18. They must have terrible in store inflation.

I made the pilgrimage last year. I agree Rochefort 10, Bernardus are excellent and do edge out Westy 12, but the real magic lies with Pannepot.

I think it would be in their best interest to at least be competitive with other online stores in Belgium, but who am I to tell them how to run their business, eh? EH? :sunglasses: He advertizes his website on Rate Beer from time to time and his prices always cause a shit storm...:grinning:

I've ordered from belgiuminabox about 3 times now. Each time, great experience... and the Westy12's were about 18-19 each with the shipping. Not really that outrageous for a splurge

well its not something the monks want anyway. I have no idea why they charge so much for every beer! used to be way back the lambics were so cheap it was underselling the stores here.

I get Orval in Casper, $4.99. Not so bad. I kind have lost the taste for Westvleteren over the years. I need to pass my last bottle of 12 on...

Just a note: my family in Belgium tried to send it to me here in the U.S. but it never arrived. So, for those of you thinking trades, just something to consider. If a business guarantees delivery, it may not be such a bad idea.

I have a few bottles of Westy 12 and I tried trading it, but most people try to win trades and give me hard time. It was $90 after tax for the "brick". So, I figured a bottle is worth $15. 1:1 $4$ Only doing IP trades atm, message me if interested. Cheers!

i feel like you can get more. i was trading mine $4$ at the price I get them -- $18/19 and most folks were fine with it. Tough customers...
