For anyone considering Brew Your Own Boot Camp, March 26 - 28, 2020 in Denver, there's a flash sale today... $200 off. https://byo.com/product/denver-co-three-day-boot-camp-pick-one-boot-camp-per-day-copy/ I just pulled the trigger. I had been thinking about it and the discount settled it.
I hadn't thought about that, but it sounds like a good idea. Interestingly, the link still shows a $200 discount, in spite of the fact that the email I received said it was for 14 December only. Perhaps they extended it.
Nope, the dude in charge of discounts just slept in this morning . . . it's back to the standard 100 buck discount.
I've thought about doing these in the past. I saw the discount, thought about it, but timing wasn't on my side. Also just realized that Nashville isn't going to happen for me either.
BYO boot camp in Nashville? Or are you referencing something else happening there? I don't find any blurbs about it on the BYO site.
I had too, but hadn't pulled the trigger before. Although last year's Homebrew Con was great from a social perspective, I came away feeling like most of the sessions I attended were really pretty basic. So I started thinking more about boot camp. From what I've read, it *sounds* like there's some good, advanced stuff. But I'll probably continue to do Homebrew Con too, whenever it's in a good location for me.
With Homebrew Con these days, you can tap into much of the seminar content online. I've never been to Nashville, so there might have been some added value to that experience. At the Boot Camp, the hops and the yeast workshops had appeal to me.
That's what I signed up for. Advanced Homebrew Hopping Techniques on Thursday and Advanced Yeast Lab on Saturday.
Slackers, yes . . . but if you ask them nicely they will still honor the sale price. I'm down for hops & water.
FWIW, I went to the BYO Boot Camp in Santa Rosa a few years ago and loved it. I would skip the pre-meeting brewery tours (did not think that they were worth the $$$). Three hours with Vinnie Chilurzo on hops and three hours with Chris White on yeast was just awesome. Great conversations with homebrewers from all over. Highly recommended and I would do it again.
Well, Boot Camp has been "postponed" by one year. Total cost for me to get nothing is about $364...unrefundable airline tix. Gotta love it.
Definitely sucks across the board....but i'm inclined at this point to believe that gov't restrictions on travel will force any remaining airlines not working with customers to have to honor vouchers or waive transfer fees. Not helping getting your money back today, but better than kissing it goodbye. Was looking forward to this...
