Some friends brought me back some beers from CA, and I'm stoked. I only have 1 of each, plus 2 Speedway Stouts, so I can't really spread it out and see how they evolve. I also may not get these beers again anytime soon.

What would be your aging recommendations (yes/no; length of time) for each of these?

    1x Russian River Temptation
    1x Russian River Consecration
    2x AleSmith Speedway Stout
1x Hair of the Dog Adam

    Thanks!

P.S. My bottle of Supplication broke :slight_frown:

    /comfort @ supplication.

    haven't had temptation.

    consecration i'd drink fresh.

alesmith, i sat on my first bottle for about 6 months just incidentally, and loved it. think this one's great fresh, probably equally or more great in 2 years; endlessly complex beer, kind of reminds me of bruery's cuir but with coffee and identifiably "a stout" (kind of).

adam, only gets better. enjoy some cold night when you need leathery, smokey, malty goodness.

If you have never had them, drink them now. Also, if you cellar the Speedway the coffee flavors will most likely fade.

if you look on the Russian River bottles, you'll see little hourglasses that denote how many years the particular beer can age for. But if you haven't tried them, like UCLA said, just drink 'em.

I didn't get to smell it, since they noticed the break when they landed back in RDU, and they quickly tossed it out.

Thanks for the advice. It looks like I'll get on the RR ones fresh. I'm tempted to drink the Adam on my birthday next Wednesday, being that my name is Adam. Pretty goofy, eh?

I might play with the 2nd Speedway, but I don't want the coffee flavors to fade.

In regards to Temptation, whatever you do, DO NOT pour the yeast into the glass until their is only a couple ounces left. Drinking it with the sediment will markedly decrease the sourness of the beer. Pour about 2/3 of the bottle into a glass, and after that is finished, then drink with the sediment. Enjoy.

Drink the Speedway and the Consecration.

Most of the recent Temptation batches benefited from time in the bottle, so no rush there. Sometime in the next 6 months to a year depending on batch.

Adam is delicious at any age. If you haven't had it to compare to... as the Temptation, don't feel rushed to drink it, but go ahead and drink it when the mood strikes. It may be nebulously better at some point in the future, but speaking only for myself, I find it far less frustrating to pop open something delicious and feel that it could have used more time in the bottle than to crack something past its prime, or to taste something superb for its age but have no baseline to compare it to.

    Cheers
