Been seeing a lot more imperial IPA's with abv's greater than 10% lately. Would like to hear your thoughts on them.

I've been impressed with Noble's Citra Yum Yum and ESB's Power Plant.
Would love to try Hops of Fury and the Miser.
My fav's are still PtY and Expo.
    Simtra is meh.

Rip Current's Caught in a Rip and Cellarmaker's Dank Statement are both stunningly two good beers, the top two TIPAs in my book.

I love Simtra. Hoparillo from Knee Deep is another good triple from them, but if you didn't like Simtra you may not like that either.

While not considered a tipa, have you had One from Rip Current yet? Clocks in at just under 16%

Hoptimum is probably still my favorite

i love ESB IPAs, and love big beers, AND love hops, but i thought Power Plant was almost too much. i guess i found out where my point of no return is. i'm speaking of the last batch though. haven't tried the new one

Citra Yum Yum was quite nice agree

Expo isn't good. it's desired because of the brewery it comes from.
PTY, the hop flavor is not the shining point of the beer, but what is, is how easy it is to drink for how big of a beer it is, amazingly smooth. Barely beats out Flying Dog, Double Dog, IMO.
Power Plant, good, but I wont buy another bottle at the price.
Simtra, my favorite, but I still only buy it a few times per year at $10 per bottle.

What does it go for? Bottles just started showing up and I was wondering.

Simtra still doesn't have bottle dates, correct? That is what keeps me from buying it, I don't want to spend $10 on an old bottle.

There is usually a date printed on the label. I know for a while they weren't there but I think they're back now.

$12/per 22oz at Whole Foods. It was cool trying a beer the same day it was bottled, but I wouldn't buy again either.

2 amazing IPA's that came out recently were MT City of the Sun and the collab between Knee Deep and Kern River called Deep River. Dont know if their technically classified as TIPA's but they were damn good up there with younger and heady IMO

Just checked, and the beer I had was Hop Tanker, not Power Plant. My mistake.
Hop Tanker was not worth it at $10 however.

Knee Deep has been bottle dating for a while.

Can't go wrong with Simtra or Hoparillo.
Track 7 has their Motherland out right now which is always good.
Auburn Alehouse releases ZZ Hop this time of year which is good.
Device Brewing has a year round called Basilica which I'm a big fan of, heavy on Mosiac.
Berryessa will sometimes have theirs called Trendy Triple IPA.
I haven't tried it but Heretic Evil 3 is supposed to be good.
Faction has one thats released in the winter called Blitzen.
Judge, Jury & Executioner by Ironfire is the only SoCal one I remember having which is pretty good.

I liked Hop Tanker but it was definitely at the top of the boozy DIPA spectrum for my tastes. Considering that Power Plant is even heavier not sure I'll like it.
