Please note that I have no idea what the bottle count and price were for Cable Car Kriek and Cable Car. Anyways, I'm intrigued in seeing what it would take to land one of these. What combination of the following (if at all) do you think it would take for a trade? - Double Barrel Damon - Rare - Grande Negro Voodoo Papi Please keep in mind that I'm not overly familiar with the trade value of either of the beers I'm looking for and I would be extremely hesitant on trading any of the beers I listed, even if I were offered Cable Car / Cable Car Kriek. I guess you could say that I'm interested in seeing the value of what I have to offer compared to the Cable Car beers. And to those who have had them, are they as good as advertised? Thanks.
All three would probably land a Cable Car 3:1. Cable Car Kriek would probably required about 3 of each of the above bottles 9:1 as an estimate. Edit - I'm not sure 9:1 would get any bites on CCK.
and that's if someone would take a quantity for quality trade. generally the kind of people trading cck want things that are just as rare if not rarer.
Thanks for the input. Like I mentioned, I really had no clue regarding either of these beers' trade value. Anyways, I'm going to delete this thread here in a few.
well... Maybe I must be a dummy. I just packed up this today for a trade, didn't think I would trade my last one but I'm a sucker for Hill Farmstead.
your last one... I feel like this beer has been greatly inflated in both rarity and value. seems like there are quite a few people out there that have or at one time had multiple bottles of what was suppose to be an almost non existant beer.
I would think someone with a Cable Car that's ISO those 3 bottles would likely go 3:1. If I didn't go to the HF release, there's a chance I'd do it myself. As for CCK, I vastly under-estimated the trade value last week and looked a bit foolish in an ISO:FT post, so all I can say is that the HF set from 9/26 is probably not enough to get it done, let alone in combination with anything else
I'd think that Double Barrel Damon would pull a Cable Car '12 pretty close to 1:1 personally. CCK on the other hand, is a different beast entirely.
The reason that there's been so many ISO's only recently is because they've been released sporadically. Outside of the initial release in 2011 which was very limited where none were officially sold for take-away (http://www.lostabbey.com/2011/11/09/cable-car-kriek-2011-release-day/), there was a second and third "release" over the past 6 months. First was in the Spring at Toronado SF I think they sold 4 cases (48 bottles) at $90-$100 at the same time they sold the T25 3L's. Then at the Anniversary party they pulled out 2 or 3 more cases of CCK for sale. If I had to guess, less than 80 have been "officially" sold, with another 50 or so sold under somewhat less official circumstances. We could go back and forth regarding what bottle count his higher, but at the end of the day the sporadic nature of the releases has made this quite a bit more difficult to obtain, and I'd guess that general demand for this bottle is higher than the others you mentioned given the pedigree of the base beer.
Very good summary, but let me fix a few things for you... they sold 4 cases (48 bottles) at $50 Then at the Anniversary party they pulled out 10 more bottles of CCK for sale These are the facts.
I offered 2 bottles of TG KBBS, TG Assassin, TG Naughty Temple, and lot of other awesome bottles totaling $200 worth of beer for a single bottle of CCK. That offer got refused. Needless to say...I wasnt sharing a bottle of CCK on my 30th B-day like I was hoping to! The general consensus is that people who have CCK want an equally rare sour whale in return for thier CCK. Also, Toronado likes to play favorites from what I have heard...I dont know this as a true fact because I have not witnessed this first hand. I have heard that they occasionally refuse sale of certain rare bottles if your not a "high roller with a connection". I have also heard of an instance that a BA was allowed buy 4 bottles of CCK. Take that for what its worth! He was a lucky guy!
My friend who got some was not a "high roller with a connection". He just happened to be in the right place at the right time. They were selling 2 per person. Seems not unlikely that someone might have had a friend with them and walked out with 4. (FWIW, the impression I get is more that Toronado doesn't like people who walk in and the first thing out of their mouth is "do you have any Cable Car?". But, I've never been there. I also find the service at Apex perfectly reasonable; if you're nice and respectful to them, that's how they'll treat you in return.)
