Just opened my only bottle of this tonight. Only reason I did was because my wife asked me if I had any beers with chocolate, and this was the first one I saw in the beer fridge that fit the bill. She asks me to open a beer about as often as a lunar eclipse.

Holy shit this is a tasty beer. Chocolatey in a really good way, smooth as silk and nicely balanced. Not much fuss is made over this beer (I checked), so I just wanted to give props where they're due. About as good as any of the Black Butte anniversary porters as far as I'm concerned. Try one if you can.

    Cheers

Coincidentally, I opened my only bottle of Mogli earlier tonight as well. (I don't have a wife, so the decision was all mine.) I agree, it's a really tasty beer. Lots of chocolate without being too sweet. The oak adds vanilla flavors that go really well with the chocolate. If I see it again, I'll definitely buy more.

It's an awesome "under the radar" beer. I was really surprised at how good it was considering I've never been too crazy for Caldera.

I definitely agree. I really like Mogli, but I'm not crazy about Caldera's other offerings. Mogli is a really tasty beer.

I liked it. Thought it smelled and tasted like a Tootsie Roll.

Really? I am yet to be impressed the Caldera brews I've, but they've been solid enough that I keep trying them. Anybody got a bottle they want to trade?

I really need to revisit that one. Last time I had it was at a festival 2 years ago and it was the star of the show that day

They can still be found in basically every Seattle shop. I tried mine last weekend and had to pick up another today.

The taste to me was straight cookie dough, really tasty.

My wife and I were in Ashland 2 weeks ago and went to the Caldera tasting room. We got a tasting tray and were mostly unimpressed, nothing bad, but nothing great, until the last beer! Mogli was delicious! we ended up buying a couple of bottles ($12 each) and drank a couple of glasses at the brewery the next day.
This beer was a delicious chocolate shake of a beer without being overly sweet like southern tier Chokolat.

box_social: The White Wax Mogli (released about 9-10 months ago) is on the shelf here in Gresham @ The Hoppy Brewer for $18 I believe.

This past Saturday night, I also saw it @ By the Bottle in Vancouver. These bottles were different, though. They still had White Wax, but the label had a complete "Sepia" tone. I inspected the bottle & couldn't find a difference, so I'd guess that the Sepia is a newer batch, perhaps?

Meh, well. All I know is that the 1st batch of 2010 (the accidental one) was top notch.

Huh. This is on the shelf in CNY for about $11. Good value, I take it? How's the body on this one, more like a porter or thick like a stout? Might have to pick some up.

Really surprised to see all the love this beer is getting on here. I had one a few months ago, I think it had purple wax. Cost around $17 and was disgusting. I wanted to drain pour but I forced it down because of the price. Then a few weeks ago a friend brought a bottle on vacation down the shore. Had a different wax color (anybody know what these mean?), but it tasted the same - disgusting.

The bottle I had had white wax; no idea what that indicates, if anything.
Disgusting in what way? Checking the reviews I'm seeing ratings of mostly 4 and above; in fact, there's only one rating below 3. So I can see it not being your thing, but disgusting sounds like you got a couple of bad bottles, as unlikely as that might seem.
I'm also interested to know why you would force down a beer you can't stand just because it was expensive. The money's gone either way.
