im going to be visiting Calgary for a week in August. I’ve never been before and wanting to check out a couple places. Any recommendations? ISO: Breweries/Bars
Calgary is pretty lacking in beer bars but Beer Revolution is probably the best there. Last Best Brewing in the city centre is a great place to grab some beers and a bite to eat. My favourite two breweries otherwise just so happen to be next to each other; Annex Ales and The Establishment. The scene is growing pretty quick though, so there may be a couple new things that pop up come August.
Last time I was there I was very impressed with Inner City and Ol' Beautiful. I hadn't seen too much interesting from Inner City in cans but their location has a good variety of experimental beers that were great. Ol' Beautiful and immediately beside them Cold Garden would be a good place to visit.
I'm visiting Calgary in Dec, specifically staying with a friend in Okotoks. Just looking for a one stop shop liquor store that, due to time, would be the "if i can only go to one, which one should I go to"? I know i'm a little outside the city, but I'm able to drive and explore a little.
Willow Park would be your best stop on the way to Okotoks and closest good store to Okotoks. Tell their beer guy you are from out of town, he might give you a discount and bring out some goodies that aren’t on the floor.
