That what I want to ask. Is beer with most calories is good for health while a diet?

Look at the ABV, or probably more accurately, the OG. Higher ABV/OG, higher calorie count.

To give you an idea, as others have said, sweeter beers may have more carbohydrates, drier beers tend to be lower calories. Here's a few examples of how calories can range at different abv's. It's mostly Sierra Nevada because it shows a wide range of styles. As usual, Sierra Nevada is detailed and awesome at most things.

All calorie counts are for 12 oz. As a long time calorie counter, here's what I do. If it's a craft beer and I don't know the calories, I use 160 calories for 12 oz. as a general rule of thumb. Makes life easier.

Sam Adams Boston Lager - 175 calories at 4.9% abv

Sam Adams Octoberfest - 187 calories at 5.3% abv

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale - 175 calories at 5.6% abv (it's 157 calories at 5% abv on draft as a fun fact)

    Torpedo - 236 calories at 7.2% abv

    Kellerweis - 168 calories at 4.8% abv

Sierra Nevada Stout - 210 calories at 5.8% abv

    Summerfest - 158 calories at 5% abv

    Nooner - 161 calories at 5.2% abv

    And a few import examples...

Weihenstephan Pilsner - 153 calories at 5.1% abv

Weihenstephan Original - 153 calories at 5.1% abv

Weihenstephan Hefeweizen - 149 calories at 5.4% abv

Weihenstephan Dunkelweizen - 156 calories at 5.3% abv

Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen (amber) - 173 calories at 5.8% abv

Paulaner Wiesn (pale) - 177 calories at 6.0% abv

I believe a 12oz of Bourbon County has anywhere between 450-500 calories! But they are also 14-15% abv...so it's similar to a 150-200 calorie 5% beer.

This is why reading threads on BA is so entertaining!!
Now, I'd like to know how to convert this to Weight Watchers points, since that's the way I manage my eating and drinking of high ABV beers:wink:
