My favorite part about your post is that it was 11:49 am on a Friday.

    I do remember that!

I have a growler of Flower Child in the fridge - holding on to it until Christmas. They’ve been doing counter-pressure fills forever, so the beer will still be great. Always pissed me off in the old growler days of the car ft world that CBC was one of a select few that went the extra mile to keep the beer fresh with counter-pressure filling. I actually had a 64 growler of YEMS in my fridge for 7 months before I opened it. When opened it, the quality and carbonatupion were f—king perfect. The open growler lasted two days, and it still had a high level of carbonation on day 2.

Why didn’t you drink it all in one night?

I’ll forever miss the smell of OGFP and the sound of Willium counter pressure filling my growlers of Fort Point and Congress at the original tap room. Watching the little bubbles coming out of the top as they filled. Those growlers were always incredible even after a few days to weeks. That was a special time and I miss it a lot. My life I guess was a lot more simple then as well.

I didn’t know Trillium counter-pressure filled back then.

I arrived about 25 minutes later. Place was packed for lunch, was lucky enough to snag a bar seat. Had to go for Buffalo Tenders one last time. Blood Orange Blunderbuss was a pleasant surprise.

I don’t care if it’s just nostalgia. The beers that came out of that small little place in Fort Point were magical.

Amazing beer. Like the three-way love child of barleywine, Campari and Gran Marnier.

Has anyone spoken to Will (Meyers) to see where he will go from here?

I talked to Will on Saturday. Besides closing the spot (they need to sell equipment, etc), he's going to take some time off and travel.

The smell of Fort Point is practically a core memory for me. I still pickup that smell in other breweries, but it was just so saturated there to the point that I wouldn't be surprised if my clothes picked up the smell like when you go to a greasy diner. And then opening a bottle or growler...oh man...

Im gonna really, really miss CBC. I'm glad Castle Island is going to keep some of the flagships running but we all know how that typically goes. Beyond that, it's kinda a surprising purchase. What value does the CBC brand have beyond its history in cambridge? (which is going away)

They contract brew Flower Child already, so they must have some sense about its sales trajectory. I imagine the IP didn’t cost much either. Happy to see it on shelves and draft. It’s probably better than any Castle Island IPA

The Castle Island purchase is a pleasant surprise. I’m keeping my expectations in check. I’d be happy to get occasional availability of stuff like Heather Ale and Triple Threat. Great representations of hard to find styles that don’t require crazy barrel aging or something.

I don’t really expect the castle island purchase will save much of anything I’m gonna miss (the space, the food, the heyday of pumpkin fest, the sour beers), but I’m still happy to see it happen. I’m not often grabbing a flower child or amber but it’s cool they’ll live on and if some of the more unique aspects of cbc come back, then great. Hopefully CI will follow the great pumpkin recipe to a t and can it every year - that alone would make this awesome. Beyond that I’m more looking forward to whatever Will does next.

I think you summed up the best-case scenario well.
