Hey all. Does anyone have any recommendations or favorite spots for tent camping near Austin or between Austin and San Antonio? Thanks for any tips. I'll be in Dallas and Austin in April and can bring New England treats if anyone wants to trade/share, etc.

Well, I mean, this seems like a logical place to ask about camping rec's.

Are you looking for close to the city or further out? If close to the city, McKinney Falls is your best bet.

Yeah, I've asked and researched elsewhere, but figured why not ask here as well (as I'll be doing a lot of beer things). Closer to the city the better, I guess, but near Jester King sounds nice as well. Thanks for the suggestions so far!

If you want to be really close, you could just pop a tent under I-35 in downtown. You wouldn't be the only one.

Oh I agree, but if he wants to be right in the city, that is his best bet.

Pace bend always has room (400 spots) and is very cheap. 30 min to austin, 30 min to JK. Very pretty

Mckinney falls is super close to austin downtown, but very crowded/family oriented, and much more expensive

Rock dog is about 10 minutes from jester king, havnt been yet but heard good things. Super cheap i believe (7$?)

looking to do any fishing while there or just camping? Some great camp sites further south along Guadalupe river for stocked trout. somewhat halfway between Austin and San Antonio.

You are also welcome to camp in my back yard within city limits. There are deer!
