I'm drinking SNPA from a can as I view and ponder this thread...so all pros as far as I'm concerned.
The only drawback that I can think of regarding canned beer is that I tend to drink it directly from the vessel, bottled beer I pour into a glass...except Corona, that is.:stuck_out_tongue:

Really the only con that bothers me overmuch about cans is how gunk and debris can collect in the rim. My local isn't a dump by any means, but I've seen some dust and particles in the rim of my most recent Torpedo can purchase. It's fine if you've got a faucet to rinse it out, but sometimes you don't and you run the risk of drinking whatever you can't clean out of the rim.

Other than that, I love cans as a storage medium for beer. Torpedo out of a can tastes a lot better than Torpedo out of a bottle.

Ideally all canned beer would be boxed or utilize the plastic covers like Maui Brewing has been using for years...it's starting to catch on though.

I dont know about everyone else, but If I have the chance I pour in a glass. I have trouble properly pouring cans, for some reason I usually pour too much or too little head, I guess its just practice?

I like the lightweight, blocking of light, and look and feel of a can but I still prefer bottle.

I don't like cans. The only pro for cans is blocking lights imo. Con: bauxite mining. Lagunitas refuses to can and I support them. I always buy bottles if given the choice.

I agree with the cans - lots of pros, but as a home brewer, that's dryin' up my bottle supply. Yet another reason to keg my beers!

Huh I have had some beers in a can that I would drink, none of which I would have called good though. Besides what will I put my homebrew in?

What kind of bottle shop doesn't allow you to do a mix six with cans?! That makes no sense.

I pour every beer in a pint glass or balloon glass unless I'm camping. However, when I'm camping I love Coors Extra Gold out of the can, it tastes way better just in the can than it does in a glass. Green bottles ruin beer, that's all I know. Spaten and Becks brew their Oktoberfests in them even and it's awful. Who wants a skunked marzen? I'll never buy their Oktoberfests again.

I find myself liking cans more than I did these days . Of course the contents are a lot more important than the container . As for drinking straight out of the can I did a highly scientific test yesterday .
Had a couple of heady toppers on the beach . The first one straight out of the can and the second one out of my standard red plastic solo cup . The beer from the cup was easier and more enjoyable to drink . The results were conclusive to me but it's a test that I wouldn't mind repeating .

Lambic no, but I know Rodenbach is available in Europe in cans. I once had thought about the acids from sours and the plastic liners, but I guess it must not be a big deal if a brewery that large is doing it?

Rodenbach in cans!??! Really? I've never seen that anywhere in Europe...guess I will be on the look out...not my favorite, but the fact that its in cans is just odd and intriguing.
