My beer tastes just a teeny bit off after adding the gelatin the other day, maybe i didnt purge all the o2 out when I hooked the gas back up.... so I have a killer headache, now and I only drank one.

I don't know about oxidation having anything to do with headaches, but it sounds like you got a lot of fusels.

I agree fusels are very well associated with headaches.

I have enjoyed older beers that oxidized after sitting in a cellar for multiple years, and even when more oxidized than I would like flavor-wise, I never got a headache from drinking them.

Hmmm the taste I get is the same as it was before I added gelatin, but now it has "bite" ya know like when you drink too many gulps of a pop and its kinda harsh? No off/weird flavors. Is that what fusels are like?
The headache went away when I drank the other beer on tap. Maybe theres something wring with me and not me beers lol.

A harsh bite can be indicative of carbonic acid...just a possibility.

This characteristic I describe, It only appeared after I added the gelatin. Thats the only reason I suspect oxidation. I used Knox brad gelatin from the grocery store and did the process almost *exactly* as Don Osborn did in the video posted above. (I did have a Zombie Dust and a Distorter before trying my beer, perhaps my palette was too wrecked at this point for me to be trying my beer again) tonite I will try it once again as the first brew I drink. Who knows, maybe itll be crystal clear and taste great again. Or, I should just leave the thing alone for a week and give it plenty of time.... Brewing + impatience = ridiculousness/craziness etc...

Well, one of the reasons I don't suspect oxidation is because of the time frame. Oxidation can happen quickly...but I don't know if it can happen so quickly as to account for your situation.

regardless of timeframe, there is zero, nada, zip, absolutely nothing that carbonation, or oxidation in a beer will do towards giving you a headache

now on the other-hand, 3 beers in a row if your a bit dehydrated, well that's a good case for a headache (fusels too)

It wasn't a comment about whether he was getting headaches from oxidation, but whether he had oxidation at all. I did not consider oxidation to be the cause of the headaches.

thats fine, the conversation was really starting to drift away from his issue, which was headaches

Sometimes we look for the answer in the wrong places

I tried my beer again yesterday and I came to the conclusion that it was the 2 beers I had before it the other night that made it have a "bite" to it. Its just getting into its prime, hops are coming out a bit more and its really tasty. Its still opaque. I dont care, cuz it tastes good

As far as the headache? I dont know, but Im betting it was a spike in blood sugar levels or dehydration. Shame on me, blaming the beer like that!

Beer can never hurt you, it can only help you.
