I have never heard anyone say that until now. I definitely wouldn't agree with them either.

Well I can't say this isn't what I suspected. Since I've never traded before I seriously doubt I'd ever find anyone willing to do me the favor of a "fair trade", no matter what concessions I made (shipping first, etc). I'm now living in Toronto with even less spending money than I had 3 months ago so I'm probably not going to be getting anything worth trading any time soon. Looks like this one will be out of reach for the foreseeable future. Though, I am slightly surprised no one mentioned Better Half as one of the viable options for landing it.

Thanks for the input, everyone. I think I needed to hear it.

I traded a Bramble and a 2010 DL for two King Henrys. Man, those were the days...

I'd love to see the results of the successful ISO: KH posts. What had to be given up for a KH? It'd be really interesting if more folks that posted these ISO: KH/Rare/etc. told us what they actually had to part with to get these bottles.

That's just insane. People can be dicks sometimes. I'm pretty new to the wonderful world of trading, but I'm a quick study and have learned that there are essentially 4 kinds of BA's:
1)Amazing people, through and through. True BA's(I put this first because I believe this is most of you)
    2)Greedy assholes(seems to be a growing group)
3)Clueless(usually bad, but sometimes they learn)
4)Trying to learn in general, getting to be like type 1(I like to put myself in this category currently).

I went off on a tangent there, but seriously $60 worth of b5 for a $12 bottle of KH is generous. People need to just do this better.

Yeah, you-asshole-holding-your-beer-for-ransom, you're doing it wrong.

I think the people who have some Rare or KH would prefer to trade it for another one-off or super limited hyped release, which is why they want over $4$ of less limited stuff. It is nothing new. It the same with stuff like BA DL or Cable Car.

In my time here it seems to be the norm that someone gets above $4$ when they are "trading down".

I was out of distribution at the time of release . I had to give up a combination of things to land one (did this trade 2 weeks ago):

1 (512) Whiskey Barrel Double Pecan Porter
1 Coop Territorial Reserve BA Imperial Stout (2011)
    1 Bruery Batch 300

It's frustrating, but it was a one-off, my favorite style, and it will only get worse from here on out.

I get the > $4$ when trading down, but not @ 600% + I guess especially when KH and Beat B5 bottle counts were about the same.

Obviously timing plays a part too. I traded for a few at a time when they were still on shelves, so people just had to go buy them and ship, now that's impossible so everything shifted bigtime.

Also, did a blind BABW night w/ some other BAs and KH won in a landslide (all 6 tasters had it #1). Bligh's finished #2 (maybe trade for one of them? It's being released again this year) then MOAS and Abacus and Sucaba (in that order).

lolwut statement of the day, imo.

and no, you aren't going to land a king henry without something appreciably smaller in bottle count / similar desire, or a mass quantity of other beers. my suggestion would be ebay.

It may be a lolwut statement but I have seen it stated many times on the site. Does that mean it's true? Of course not. BUT, we are still talking about a 98 rated beer (with more reviews) to a 100 rated beer (with less reviews and infinitely more hype).

i've seen it before too, along with statements that sucaba is hoppy. there aren't too many people on here that i take seriously.

It's always odd how people think it's impossible for someone to have a different opinion of a beer on this site. Afterall, ratings are FACT. There are at least 10 IPA's I find much better than PtY, but that opinion is generally met with "LoL l BrO WtF You Are WROng BRO!!!" =)

It could have something to do with the fact that roughly 14.5 billion BAs were trying to trade multiples of Beat B5 like it was a job for KH, Rare, Fou Foune, etc within about 3 weeks of release.

I think last years Abacus was just as good.
This years Sucuba didn't seem quite as good as those 2.

And besides, how would you even know, you're on a FW boycott.

Not the point I was making, people are saying that Sucaba being almost as good as KH is impossible/preposterous, and that KH is exponentially better than Sucaba....I am simply saying the numbers indicate otherwise...furthermore I am saying hype/rarity could very well be at play here.

Someone turning down 4 Beat's for a KH really surprises me.
I love KH but 4 beats? I'd probably have to say yes to that.

I think it may take the right person who is looking for the right beers.... Your list of gots are pretty nice, but nothing I 'need terribly' right now or drastically want bad enough to trade a KH.... I'm pretty sure, there seems to be a lot of positive networking that does happen when/once a trader has an established group of trade-partners....and if one of your regular trade partners has what you're looking for, or can land it for you; they know you'll do the same back at them for something they're so desiring... that being said, the beer market on here has at times, seemed just as bad as Ebay - except instead of bidding for $, people are bidding w/ insane numbers of beer x for beer y....

    my $0.02
