Being a big trader I've tossed the idea around of giving up trades this new year. Could you do it for a year? What would change? Would you appreciate what you have more? Would you feel like your missing out? For me, it would mean drinking a lot of Kane and Carton with trips, albeit less frequent, to Other Half and Tired Hands. I'd have to prioritize places I can bring beer home. The seasonal offerings at these places would suffice. I'm not sure if I'd spend less or more money. I think I could do it, not sold that I really want to. I'll leave it here for everyone to pick up...
I stopped trading in May and I do miss parts of it. There are beers here in Alabama that are pretty darn tasty and trading for me was starting to be more about the chase then the beer itself. I stopped chasing and started enjoying what was right in front of me and i couldn't be happier. Are there beers out there right now that i want to trade for? Absoluley, but if it starts with one where do i draw the line? There are other things in my life right now id rather worry about besides what new beer i think i need to taste. HOWEVER I do think beer trading is a great way for people to enjoy and experience a wide variety of beer and potentially make life long friends. This is what I miss the most. I just know with my addictive personality that taking a long break from trading has been a great thing FOR ME PERSONALLY. cheers!
