Hello, I am looking to get a local beer from every location (i.e. State or Province) my wife and I have visited as a part of a celebration. They don't necessarily have to be beers we've had in every location, since some have come and gone over the many years. Just something brewed in each. Having a hard time locating quality beers that I can get in New England that are brewed in the Canadian Maritimes (Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia). Suggestions?
Moosehead should be available (from New Brunswick), but it's crap. I don't think much beer is coming out of those spots, so it might be tough.
Ya, somehow it's my dad's new favorite beer. I like Labatts, been forever since a Molson. Peche Mortel makes a great coffee stout, IMO as good as Founders breakfast.
Peche Mortel is the beer, Dieu Du Ciel is the brewery, located in Montreal. But yes indeed it's very tasty, as are the rest of their beers. Solstice d'ete is a fantastic little raspberry sour
I will check when I get home, but my mom had gone on a trip that way in August 2015 and brought me a bunch of beers back. Can see if any are styles that may be in good shape still with being refrigerated the past year plus. I recall having a few English style IPAs, blueberry, wheat and red ales stocked up. Will message later. Two of the breweries that come to mind are Propeller Brewing in Halifax N.S. and the Gahan House in Charlottetown P.E.I. Propeller made a good west coast style IPA as I recall.
Yes, well, people who actually live in the Maritimes also have a hard time locating quality beers. I don't know where you're located but, last time I was in Redstone (Stoneham, Mass.), they had one side of an entire aisle stocked with Canadian craft. Mostly, DDC and other Québéc beers but there might be something there. Call them. Also, post to the Canada forum. It's a little light on herring-chokers but there are knowledgable folks in there and a few avid traders.
There has been a bunch of beer from Collective Arts from Ontario bouncing around too. Some pretty nice beers.
