I will be in Brussels from the 4th-8th of September.
Anyone have any suggestions of things to do or places to see before/during the festivities?
Or if anyone from here would like to meet up, let me know.

    Thanks.

It's also open days at 3F in Beersel. (Easy commuter train from Brussels on the Friday, but you have to drive out during the weekend.)

BTW you are in position to actually hit the various activities related to the beer weekend *away from* the beer stands on Grand' Place, so you should. There's some sort of service in the cathedral and then some oath-taking or whatnot in the town hall on Friday, and a parade of beer carts one of the weekend days. Hey, because you can. Otherwise enjoy a blast of Indian summer and be a tourist outside.

Yup, did go to cathedral and watched the parade through the city. Good times. Drank some good beers.
Is there anything that's going to be at the festival that I should absolutely try ? I am not super familiar with what is available. Any suggestions of things I most likely won't be able to get back in Canada/US as imports?

I feel out of date about who's shipping decent volumes into N. America (other BAs out there who can weigh in?) but just musing on some pics in representative styles... in the lambic-based camp, I'd note Boon... Westvleteren (Sint Sixtus in case that's the way they're signed) supposedly will have its 6°, although the other Trappists are probably fairly findable, perhaps Achel the least so. In similar styles, St. Bernardus is there, plus Malheur, Slagmuylder (Wiktap beers), and I like Lefebvre's Floreffe and don't recall seeing it abroad much. Among some other different makers that may be less available -- and again, I need help from someone with more up to date on what makes it over, but I'm looking at Caracole, De Halve Maan, Silly, de Bastogne, des Fagnes, Bavik (hit or miss but if you want a Flemish red or old brown), des Legendes, du Bocq. I always mention Dupont but think they're fairly findable across the pond. Anyway, others please weigh in, and report back.
