CANBIF Fall 2013

Looks like due to the timing of this (vacation and such) I'm going to have to sit this one out, which is unfortunate because the last one was awesome. I will be good to go for the spring though.

 

I updated my wants and hads. As someone else said, I really want to experience whatever your region has to offer. Not a fan of sours, or fruit beers, but I am game to try almost anything.

I feel a little bad about the lack of "whalez" or extreme beers I can send out because they just don't happen out here, but hopefully my recipient is happy sampling some really good examples of traditional styles.

 

Don't feel bad - most people are happy to just try new beers (to them) that you think are good.

 

Absolutely, that's worth quoting - as much as I love all those crazy styles I mentioned I am really looking for what you describe first and foremost. I'm not as picky a drinker as that earlier post may have implied :-)

 

Spring for me, hope it comes back then. SevenDuffs & Phyl, you guys to an awesome job last time!

 

Not a big fan of black IPA's or pumpkin beers. Wants are up to date.

 

I've never kept my wants or hads up to date, so I just went down the Canadian top 50 and filled that out. Favourite styles would be American-style hoppy stuff and sours, but I'm happy with any good beer I haven't had before.

 

I will update my wants soon. I will bw very happy with whatever box you will send me, but if you can send something i havent rated, its a plus (see RB).

My "wants" should be up to date tonight or tomorrow. Strong preference for something I haven't rated yet (see Ratebeer, same username) and that I don't already have in the cellar (http://www.cellarhq.com/cellar/tom10101), except for Lambic/Gueuze for which is not a "problem" to have multiple bottles of the same. Favorite styles are Sour/Lambic, Saison and fresh IPA.

My 'wants' are up-to-date-ish, but I am much easier than that anyway: send me anything you think is tasty! I used the Canada Top 50 to fill out my wants, but really, I will try anything as long as you thought it was good. If it helps, my favorite styles are fresh IPA, big stouts and sours/wild ales. But, I also love porters, wheat beers, saisons, all things Belgian, lagers, bohemian lagers, gueze, gose, lambics, pilsners, dunkels, amber ales, red ales, brown ales, white ales, blonde ales...even green ales on St. Patty's Days!! As long as you liked it.

EDIT: Oh wait, please no smoke beers.

If you want to save money you could just dip into your cellar for everything... I bet your target would hate that! :-)

 

Just picked up the first decent sour made in Ottawa (IMHO) that has finally been bottled as a limited release...think I can part with one for this if my target enjoys that kind of things...but only if I get marshmallows and mustard! Lol - jk.

 

Wait to you see my beer glazed nuts...Phrasing!!!

 

So if I get paired with cattersley I will just have to keep both bottles
