CANBIF Fall 2014 - Hints and hauls

Mine is out too, ~250 ounces and delivery should be on Friday according to FedEx tracking.

 

Recipient also gets an IOU for 2 bottles of wild rose cherry porter when it comes out end of Oct. Forgot to mention I included a 20 oz pint glass, bottle opener and tshirt too

 

Had the afternoon off, so I went into Toronto to pick up some fresh, hoppy things. I think my box is now complete and will probably ship on Friday.

Some hints to start?

1 - It's going to a city with a medical school
2 - It's in a Province with a salt water coastline

 

I'm trying to come up with some witty hints for my target but it is not child's play! My box is almost ready to go and I will most likely send it on its way for a 5k+ trip next Monday. I'm not quite hitting untapped wants but I believe I will be able to provide a few old favorites and probably a few "should be" wants. Hopefully this will please!

 

So.... It's Saskatchewan?

 

Got excited, but I have a feeling it isn't heading to me as I didn't have a single beer "request" as per Hint #5

 

My wife asked me to kiss her where it was stinky, so I brought her to Regina.

 

One more thing to grab this weekend, and I'll be shipping on Monday. No witty hints from me :-)

 

Got a hold of one special bottle this morning...will have to do some more shopping this weekend and do more research on wants.

Hint#2 (or 3): your CFL team is doing better than mine...which isn't that difficult!

Things are starting to shape up over here and it has made me realize that besides hints for my receiver I never left any hints for the shipper!

I'm happy with all beers, the exception which seems to be in tune with much of this thread is pumpkin beers. I just don't enjoy any of them thus far. I did a fair bunch of sampling last fall and hope to skip it this year! My preference slides towards the darker beers, especially as the fall approaches. As I mentioned though I'd be happy with beer

 

Box has landed in my target city! Hope they can deliver it today.

Another clue! Fred Ewanuik and Gabrielle Miller once lived close to our target.
All this certainly makes me hungry, I think it's time for some pannekoeken!

 

My box is finally ready to go! Some stats:
- Hit 5 of my targets wants.
- 13 beers included totalling 256oz.
- 7 barrel aged beers, a few with Brett, a couple other 'wild'.

Hint: I dunno, I suck at hints.... My target really likes beer (that should narrow it down)!

 

Good news, my box is out for delivery as well!

More Good and Bad news, got my box today as well, sadly one bottle didn't make it, leaked out about 3-4 ounces (is it that cold between QC and here?). The bottle in question is the Porter Baltique (BA edition I believe?). Also, not sure what one of the bottles is as it's unlabeled? Homebrew maybe?

 

Damn, I should have taped it too. Sorry about that. It's the regular edition.

As for the unlabeled bottle, it's Dunham Jake Brett.

Yikes, I hope none of my bottles leak on the way out west!

I forgot how much I hate FedEx in that they don't do same-day pickup, so I had to drive to the peninsula to make sure the box goes out today. Altogether there's 209oz after a last-minute pick-up last night to fill out the box.

Hint 3: Good thing there wasn't a traffic jam when I was already late!

 

OK box is finally ready! 235oz is the finally tally… although I may try and squeeze one more in there if I can. My box is heavy on Canadian content with 9 of the 12 beers from Canada and beers from 5 provinces in total. It also hits a number of “wants” from my target. Shipping date will be tomorrow or Sunday.
