This thread is for participants in the CANBIF. Beer mails will be sent shortly informing all participants of their target.

Please do not disclose who your target is or contact your target. Part of the fun is not knowing who you are getting a box from until it arrives on your doorstep.

The purpose of this thread is to allow each participant to provide enough information about their preferred styles and breweries, disliked styles, US markets that they have regular access to and any other information that will help your trading partner pick out a selection of beer that suits your tastes.

Feel free to post any questions about shipping, packing, or the rules of the BIF in here too.

Once you receive your box, please post the details of your haul here too! Pictures are always welcome!

    Happy trading!

Admin – if there is any way to keep this thread in the Canada forum, at least for a few days, it would be appreciated.

I am mostly and ale guy, but quality lagers have there place on my palate too. Ales, the hoppier the better. Lately been really digging the white IPA's. Unfiltered beers rock! I am happy with what I can't get in Ontario, so that really leaves the door open to a lot! LOL.

All target e-mails are sent. If I missed anyone, please let me know right away.

I also wanted to mention that we were not able to completely avoid a Ontario-Ontario trade matchups. There are a few of those. We tried pair those people up such that the person sending the box was a veteran trader who would likely have a few interesting non-local beers to include in the trade if needed. For those pairs, if you can't meet the 50% local threshold for your box, it is ok.

    Hey,
I tend to dig Belgian style strong ales, dubbels, tripels, wheat beer, sours. I tend to not dig IPAs.
i choose yeast over hops any day.

I have easy access to many Ontario brews through the LCBO but I am still searching for hard to get brews
that are only available at the breweries. Some Quebec beers such as Unibroue are also easy enough for me to get but there are still a few i've yet to try. I'd love to try anything outside of Ontario whatever the style may be. My Favorite style is probably American IPA's but I also love my belgian beers, anything from strong dark ales to Tripels to Belgian IPA's. I also love good Hefeweizen's and any wheat beer for that matter.

Here's the list of beers i've had to date: http://beeradvocate.com/user/beers?ba=SebD

I love strong beers as well, more malt, more flavour!

General rule for me is that I like to try new beers. I have reviewed pretty much anything interesting that I have tried. http://beeradvocate.com/user/beers?ba=TheSevenDuffs

Likes: DIPA/IPA and Imperial Stouts are my favorite styles. Especially love anything barrel aged. Also like stouts, porters, baltic porters, black IPA, barleywines, APA.

Dislikes: Not big on Belgian styles except Belgian strong dark ales. Not big on Heffs. Not big on lambics, sours, fruit/vegetable beers.

Have fairly regular access to buffalo area beers and some access to Michigan.

Always interested in local beers that don't find their way to retail stores.

    That should hopefully help...

I like big hops and I can not lie, You other brewers can't deny, That when a wort comes in with low IBUs, That's a beer I will not choose... I like'em hoppy and big, And when I'm throwin a gig, I just can't help myself, I'm actin' like an animal, Now here's my scandal..

Seriously, I like hops, but as a home brewer I make things way hopper than I can buy (sadly). I love almost any type of beer. Sours, Imperials (esp. wood aged) & Belgians are all well loved. I like a good session beer or two also. Wheat beers? Yup. Seriously, I can' think of a style I say "nope" to, except some of the lighter adjunct laden lagers BAs tend to shy away from.

As for what I can get? In Manitoba, not f'n much. Great Lakes, Central City, Tree, Unibroue, Garrison's. That said, I have traded for a lot of Canadian beer in the past, and everything I've consumed in the past few years is rated on BA, so check it out.

I'm like TheSevenDuffs, I like the unique brews, IPA's and doubles, stouts, porters, barrel aged, barley wines, where I differ is I like the Belgian/sours/lambics and heffs. If you want an idea of what I've tried, I have a little photo compendium http://www.flickr.com/photos/phirleh/sets/72157603039468171/
Not too big on lagers, as a homebrewer, it's stricly ale brewing for me. Thanks for setting this up, this is going to be fun!
Oh yeah, if you brew too, I love trying someone else's brew!

    Hi,

I'm a total Hophead, and really enjoy IPAs, especially when they are low on alcool, pale, and really hoppy with a brutal bitterness. I'm not much into stout or porters, nor into belgian style beers. I tend to dislike yeasty characters and high alcool brews. I'd rather have a light but refreshing pilsner with good hop characters.

I sometimes drive to Ontario to get some Tree brewery hop head IPA, some Urquell, and other available seasonals. Still have a 12 pack of I.P.eH? from beau's brewery too. I'd be glad to discover other stuff from ontario, or anywhere else in the world. Generally, if it's easily drinkable, bitter and hoppy without the sweet malt taking the lead, I should enjoy.

Also, if you make some beers yourself, I'd be glad to try it, as I'll be attending a brewing class starting next week soon.

    Cheers!

Sours, big stouts, and IPAs are what I like most. Not a big fan of most belgians, Hefe's or barleywines.

I will be out of town May 14-20 and would appreciate it if the box would would come before or after that week!

Love to try new beers, check out my ratings to see what I haven't tried yet: http://beeradvocate.com/user/beers?ba=liamt07

Big on hops, love Belgians and love malty stuff - I dig everything pretty much I guess. Will welcome any well made beers from your local brewery (or anywhere for that matter) - just don't send me old IPAs, fresh or not at all! If you can hit any of my wants (which are fairly extensive - fair warning), that's always a plus: http://beeradvocate.com/user/beers?start=0&ba=liamt07&order=dateD&view=W

Have access to everything in Ontario and a better selection of Buffalo/NYC.

I'm pretty easy to please. I love everything from huge monster stouts and DIPAs to well-made wheats and Czech pils and everything in between. I am particularily fond of saisons, sours and anything wild and bretty. I haven't done too much trading in about the last 5-6 months, so anything new across Canada during that time would also be new to me. I don't home brew myself (yet) but definitely wouldn't turn down someone's home brew if they happen to be so adept.

I'm all over the map for styles. I think the only thing I don't like my beer to have is strong vinegar notes, which I find some flanders reds to have. I love everything from bourbon aged stouts to IPA's to wheat beers to lambics. In fact, I sort of hoard Cantillon bottles. Basically, if you think it tastes good or sounds interesting- it will be fine, I'm sure I'll like it. :sunglasses: Also, if you homebrew, I'd love to try some as well, as I've found some of the best/most interesting beers to be made right at home...

I really like everything. I can enjoy a big ipa, a nice saison , a strong porter, lambic, big stouts, barleywine or anything barrel aged... I'll try it. Home brews are also welcome. If you have fun packing it, i'm sure i will have as much fun to unpack it. Cheers and thanks to thesevenduffs and Phyl21ca for organising this BIF!

Also, not a big fan of winter warmers and prefer beers I haven't tried yet, but there are a few on my wants that I just can't get enough of. I know, picky picky  Besides the four styles that I mentioned, anything is good.

Had never really considered growlers. I am ok with including them as long as others don't object. I've personally never shipped a growler, but I know many people who have...

Thanks for including me in this at the last minute.

I have fairly broad tastes, and am good with almost anything. probably a bit less so on the 'winter warmer' spiced type of thing. Favourites are hoppy beers, heavy duty strong RIS, and wood aged bears. I like extreme beers, but also well done examples of pretty much any styles.

I have had some access to Buffalo and Chicago area, but not for a while.
