My wife buys and sells online and what she tells me shipping here compared to the States is unreal...

Good Lord, so the rule must be the later you send the more beer you put in it? :stuck_out_tongue:

Don't sweat too much about it, the canbif is pretty relaxed, and focuses on local Canadian craft (hence why the only requirement other than size is how many local breweries you should include)

My fast growing collection (and a lot of people here) is still not enough for something like the White Whale BIF lol that sir is insane. There is nothing better than opening a box of beer you can't get, regardless of how rare it is.

Totally agree! I am very happy that Ted sent me what he did but I would have been just as happy with local beers that I have never tried before. As a participant in the last whale BIF I can say that it was very rewarding but this is right up there - getting a box with beer surprises, regardless of the "rarity" always make the day better, period. And with this BIF I have bunch of bottles to open up and enjoy!

    • Homebrew Blood Orange Saison
    • Grand River Russian Gun Imperial Stout

I also got some glasses (Grand River and Great Lakes Brewing) and a few Great Lakes Brewing coasters.

I'm glad to see these are all new for you, Ontario has really stepped up its game lately and these are a few of my favourites from around here. Some of those are extremely fresh, the GLB 25 and Boneshaker were just bottled last week. Enjoy Arek!

My box continues happily towards the most self-important city in Canada. It is scheduled for delivery tomorrow on a road filled with houses that have brick fronts... Mmmm... Beer...

Just picked up my package from Bowmanville! In the box.....

    -Publican House, House Ale
    -Muskoka Mad Tom IPA
    -Nickelbrook Headstock IPA
    -Railway City Dead Elephant IPA
    -Hockley Black and Tan
    -Creemore Kellerbier
-Great Lakes 666 Devel's Pale Ale
    -Neustadt 10W30
    -A whole whack of coasters

The first 5 are new to me and the last 3 are old favorites I can't get in Alberta and will gladly get reacquainted with. I'm a beer swag nerd too, so the coasters were aces. Very happy with the box. Thanks Cattersley! Nice to get a box from a fellow BT'er as well.

.....will post a pic when I get the chance.

Agreed. Whales are usually pretty overrated anyways. They just sit around in my cellar for ever while I wait for a good enough excuse to crack them. Then after all that anticipation, it's just another great beer ...at best. The best beers for me are the ones that weren't even on my radar that just blow me away. I've found the extras that I've never even heard of are often better than the beers I've traded for.

Then again, I did really enjoy the Pliny on tap at Pizza Port tonight, despite it's crazy status ;-)

Stupid question, since it's the first time I use FedEx to ship: the pickup guy is scheduled for 3 pm today to pick my shipment. Will he give me a transparent plastic enveloppe to put the shipping paper with bar code in it, or should I just tape it on box with transparent tape, so it's easy for him to scan it? Sorry for being such a rookie...

Don't feel bad for asking, I have never scheduled a pickup so I wouldn't know. I would tape the label to the box (cover the entire label with tape except the barcode) and write the tracking number and ship date on the box with a Sharpie. My thinking is they are there to only pickup and don't care you don't have an envelope. Would be worthwhile to order some from them.

My package was just picked up. It's going west, just past a wine region bearing a canadian province name...

You can't directly from your hard drive.

You can sign up for a free image host like moby picture, twitpic etc. Upload the picture than click on the little icon of the tree here and paste the picture link.

    or use something like http://postimage.org/
