Curious - can we up the minimum limit? I would say standard is 12 bottle shipper...meaning minimum is 144oz

No issue with me. Maybe everybody can chime in to see if they would be fine with this limit.

I have never sent less than a 12 bottle shipper or received less than a 12 bottle shipper so good by me.

I'm cool either way... Will have to buy a styro container. Is U-haul the place to go?

If we go with 12, a little more lead up might be good. Maybe make the cutoff/match earlier?

Fine with me. as above, i've usually sent/received 12 in CANBIF so it seems like its a standard

Yeah, never really seen much less than a standard 12 shipper go out, but I'm cool with anything.

12 bottle is the unofficial standard anyway, I'd like to participate again! No change in information...

I'm in if there is a 12btl standard (seems to be the standard already). But I would also participate in a strict 6 btl level if people want both.

    I've used U-Haul:

    https://www.uhaul.com/MovingSupplies/Boxes/Kitchen-moving-boxes/Wine-Shipping-Kits?mid=169

    I've also used U-Line:

    http://www.uline.ca/BL_5450/Wine-Shippers

U-line shippers are sold in lots of 4 or greater, whereas you can order just 1 from U-Haul which is nice if you don't have a lot of space, or don't trade excessively. The design of the U-line shipper inserts is a little different from U-Haul. They seem to more easily allow one to fit 2/3 extra small bottles/cans than the U-haul boxes without any styro-surgery, especially in the 6 bottle shippers. That said, the bottle cavities are a little tighter, and I have had difficulty fitting in the more bulbous champagne type bottles or the 1 litre squealer/grumbler type growlers without getting out the x-acto knife. The U-line cardboard, however, does seem to hold up a little better use upon use (at least in my un-scientific observation of personal experience) for whatever that is worth.

Question to everyone: Has anyone found a place that sells same/similar sized replacement boxes to the ones that come with styro-shippers? I have a couple 12 bottle inserts that are in great shape, but with boxes that house them are hanging together by a thread. I know U-Haul does not sell individual boxes that conform to the size. I am going to check U-Line, but don't want to have to buy a bulk lot. Anyone have luck with this in the past?

It's going to be my first time, but I've been planning on sending 12 all along ... sounds like a plan.

I am glad I hit a bunch breweries downtown last Friday, and stocked up on Durham region brews at the beginning of the year! :grinning:
