CANBIF Spring 2017

To my target: You have not yet posted on the subject of hints and hauls in this thread and appear to be a bit of an enigma. Thankfully my research thus far has been a bit rewarding.

To my sender: I'm happy with beer, my ratings are up to date and please don't invest too much stock in my wants.

I'd like to avoid, if possible, wheat based beers (Berliner weisse, some malted wheat beers) and any beers with the addition of lactose. Wine barrel aging isn't really my thing but you're welcome to attempt changing my mind on that.

I would very much appreciate new to me beer and please have fun throwing together what you will send. Cheers!

 

To all those who still view themselves as a potential target of mine: your "swag" preferences are always appreciated! Do you like glassware? Shirts? Beer soap? The strangest beer related knick-knacks I can find? Let me (and others who may be curious about this kind of thing for their own reasons!) know!

After I posted last night, I saw news of a Minneapolis brewery releasing a kettle soured fruited milkshake IPA to celebrate their anniversary. While I won't be able to make it down to secure one of my own, to my potential sender: these are quite possible all of my favorite things combined into one beer. That may either complicate OR simplify things for you.

That leads me to my first haul hint for my target. There's only one way I can make what I want to send you work. MULTIPLE BOXES.

 

To my target: You haven't posted what you're interested in yet, but I've done some research and feel confident that you'll love the 12 shipper of Corona I'm gonna send you.

My plan is to include a whole heap of local goodies and some stuff I acquired on my recent trip to Copenhagen. All good things. I'm hoping you post soon so I can refine my list.

To my sender: I'm big into super hazy hops and barrel-aged sours/stouts. If you're in BC, I've been dying to try Twin Sail and 33 Acres. If you're in New Brunswick, I'd love some Trailway. If you're in Quebec, Auval would be amazing. Lastly, if you're in The Yukon, just send me a side of smoked salmon.

To my sender: My favourite styles are Porters and barrel aged anything, second would be wild ales/saisons. then stouts. I always enjoy an IPA with a big nose, but are able to get lots here. But I never say no to some tasty New England versions I am swearing off smoked anything and kettle sours for 2017, probably longer.

To my target: You haven't posted likes and dislikes yet. I may be able to fill a couple of your wants, but beyond that, how about a Pabst?

To my sender:

I like almost all styles and variety most of all. My current favourites are stouts and porters with coffee, chocolate and/or vanilla, and beers fruited with berries or cherries. I like to try beers I haven't yet had (my 'hads' are up to date on this site), but, that said, beers I have rated well in the past would most certainly be welcomed.

My wants list on this site - just updated - consists of beers on the Canada Top 100 I have yet to try. Any of these would be greatly appreciated, but don't go out of your way to procure them.

To my target:

Early research shows you have had a decent amount of the good stuff available in my neck of the woods, but not everything. A trip I had set up to Vermont at the end of the shipping window was just postponed. If we end up going one week later, I may send out a little late so that I can share the bounty (I will tell Phil if this ends up being the plan). If it is postponed more than that, I will send a second box out with some Vermont goodness in May. Either way, you will be getting all the Magic Hat you have ever wanted!

To My Sender: Not the biggest fan of smoked beers. Open to most anything else including IPAs, Sours and Stouts. Bit of a ticker so would love to try something local that I haven't before and that doesn't make its way to B.C. You can find me on Untapped under the same handle. Looking forward to your box

To my sender: I'm quite into saisons, sours, big age worthy beer, ipa's of all stripes, anything I'm not likely to find east of Ontario... and otherwise if you think it's interesting, I'd love to try it.

To my target: You've already posted. I live east of you, but not in any of the spots you quoted. However, I should be able to fulfill one of your specific requests. Otherwise, I'll target your favourite styles and fill in some gaps with stuff you've likely not had before.

 

Everything you need to know about me is in my profile! I love big stouts, IPAs, and complex 'sours'. Lots of my wants are West coast but I love to see new delicious beers from anywhere.

I love sours/wild ales but admit that I'm a bit over simple kettle sours. Also a big fan of juicy IPAs, farmhouse ales and most things funky. I don't generally seek out scotch ales, barley wines, quads and tripels but please don't feel constrained by that - whatever you send will be much appreciated and likely shared.

To my target: You are east of me but we do share some geographic commonality. While you don't seem to seek out one of my favourite styles, I'm confident I'll be able to meet some of your previously expressed wants and otherwise provide you with a load of amazing BC beers.

sorry I'm slow getting to this. To that end, I enjoy beer, and not knowing who you are I'm willing to trust your judgement. Big fan of barrel aged nonsense, anything funky, and then just good beers of whatever style I guess.
To my target,
Haven't yet dug into details about you yet, but I can say definitively that you live west of me, I'll do some further research to land on more details, just wanted to post this quick so as not to slow things up.

My target has spoken in this thread. I got you bro!

My benevolent captor, he who has me as a most humble target... Hope you haven't purchased any beers yet! I am in the Ottawa area, so that means Im close to LCBO and Quebec beers, so anything distributed in these stores I have access to. So mainly looking for local, stuff that doesn't distro in my area.

Here is my list of specific desires.... Just to make it worst... Oh and I'll add for the sake of this CANBIf I'll declare myself vegan and intolerant to White birch.

- smoked lagers and porters
- fresh pale ales
- German Helles, kolsch, and alt
- good barleywines and stouts not made by Brick.
- fruited sours, but not banana nor gooseberry
- I also like glassware of the teku or sensory glass types.
- I wear large if your tempted
- I like canned stuff but 355ml.
- I cannot receive lambic. I just don't have the space anymore. But if you must, I'll graciously receive it.
- would love smoked stouts
- I would also really appreciate you sending me one quart of local malt liquor, or just the worst non-infected beer available in your area,

Or anything. I am just playing around.

Dearest sender, I also don't mind getting stunningly POOR examples of beer. They have to be the worst. My crew has a running joke about awful beers, to the point where we've reviewed : year old Red Racer, 3 year old Keiths left outside under a deck, a 1976 Molson Stock Ale, Rouge Voodoo Dount Maple Bacon, and tipped a few 40's for science. 100% legit. Send me anything. You can even Maker a Laker if that's your area.

Dear Target: you have access to, and have had some cool stuff. I can fill a box of 100% new ticks. Mostly localish, some nooot quite. You are east of me. Better hints to come.

 

Dear sender:
I am into imperial stouts and obviously, just like everyone I hope to be receiving Toppling Goliath, Cantillon, Trillium, barrel-aged Dark Lords and other "rather easy and widely available" beers. I am also in to get beers that are not easily available in Québec which you can translate as beers that you can easily get your hands on. You can find me as GRM on RateBeer if you want to have an idea of what beers I have had so far.

Dear target:
... who happens to Iive in a cold part of Canada (well, that is about anywhere), I have seen your wish list and will try to hit as many of them as possible. I am also planning to send you some local beers which you may never have heard of.

 

Late to the party as usual! Untappd profile is barleyboyz. I'll cherish everything you send. Love all beer styles. Especially barrels, sours n brett. Would also love to try some of your local neipa as well.
