Canbif, Spring 2018!

My first target is faaaaaaaaaaar away from me. This is a place I want to visit one day. My Girl friend is having family there but if you don't know me. you have no idea who I'm talking about!

My second target is closer to me but I would have to take 2 days to drive to his home. It will be the first time I will send beer to an "Alter Ego" (I'm not sure if it's the right wrod but you should be able to recognize yourself . I'm really happy to make it happen!!

To my target - I'll be sending my box west, but not as far as the Pacific. It's composed of about 50% beer from New Brunswick, and 50% beer from all neighboring jurisdictions (Maine, Quebec Nova Scotia, and PEI).

If the beer isn't from NB, or share a boarder with NB, it ain't in the box.

 

I’m in Red Deer, which sometimes limits my access to things like this. However, I’ll be coming back from Sunshine on Friday and I’ve always wanted to visit the Brewer’s Apprentice...

 

My target lives in one of my favorite Canadian cities. We have never been matched up in any CANBIF and we have never traded. He or she will benefit from some hazy US cans I picked up last week while in Chicago. I will finish my box off this weekend and have it off shortly after.

For the person that got me. I like pretty much all styles, except for pumpkin/yam/veg beers. I’m a moderate ticker, but will gladly revisit any good beer. You can find me on untappd as “boney”. Most of what I’ve had is on there over the last few years. I’m really digging well made lagers right now. Any local well made bottom fermenting beers would be most welcome, but are not a necessity. Down with home brew, if that’s your thing, too.

 

My target has not posted any hints yet and lives east of me in a place I first heard of through my love of hockey. I’ve never been here, but I’ve been fairly close twice, once to play in a tournoi de hockey and once for a 400th anniversary

I’ve tried to do my reconnaissance, and my box is nearly ready to go. It would be great to know some preferences.

As for me, I enjoy all styles of beer and really like variety, my favorites (in no particular order), are IPA’s, IIPA’s, dark beers (i.e. imperial stouts, porters, barley wines, anything with coffee!!) and sour/farmhouse/brett. I used to tick a lot on the other site but have really toned that down since I entered parenthood, so don’t worry about sending me new ticks.

My target will be getting plenty of good local stuff and at least one treat from the ole beer cellar.

 

To my sender, No matter what kind of beer you send me I will be a happy camper.

But mainly, im a hop head and love stouts,

I'm quite easy to please, I just want to try whatever you think are great local beers that I can't get here. Really appreciate anything in the top 100 I haven't tried, but don't worry too much about that. My least favorite styles are herb/spiced beers, fruit or pumpkin, and farmhouse/sour/wild but I try to have an open mind.

I am sending out exclusively NB/PEI brews to someone who you might think would be difficult to shop for!

To my sender, I am up-to-date on Untappd as Cellar_Dweller. I am a big fan of anything that is wood-aged, and if that wood happened to previously hold some higher test alcohol, even better! My favorite style is Porter, with stouts right behind. BA versions are always most welcome. I also like saisons and a well aged barleywine (after 4 years in the cellar). I also like citrus style IPAs and Pale Ales. Not into the milkshake IPAs, as I have disliked about 60% of those I tried. Sours? Well I've had a ton of these and have sworn off kettle sours for 2018.

Since the NHL playoffs are in full force, some hockey hints and facts.

One of the most famous residents of your hometown has a major NHL trophy named after him.

Your box has 19 different choices, representing 10 different styles from breweries in Alberta, BC, Belgium, and California. As a side note, my favorite hockey player of all time is #19, Larry Robinson, who played for the same team as the gentleman in the first hint.

I will be handing my box over to the good folks at Canada Post tomorrow.

I love trying stuff I haven't had. Into the usual stuff: hazers and other takes on awesome hops, big imperial stouts, complex sours/flemish/lambic, etc. Hate smokey and spiced.

 

Sorry to be slow posting this. To my recipient, I hope you'll enjoy what I'm sending, got a good mix of East Coast brews for you.
To my sender, I'm pretty open to trying anything. Big fan of the funky and the barrel aged. Ultimately though I'm just looking to try some beers I can't get around here, so send what y'all think is good.
