    So it begins...

I am a hop-head. I love big and bold IPAs of all shapes, variants and sizes as well as much in the same of stouts, porter, barley/rye/wheat wines and tasty lagers. Please no sours.

Time to post the same for your sender to put together a box for you! Have a great Easter weekend everyone!

Target information will be going out very soon!

I'm not picky. I haven't put a review up here in a long time.

The only thing I don't like is smoke.

Love IPAs of any style/strength as long as they're not sugar bombs, lagers (especially pils), complex stouts. Stuff from underrated breweries is always appreciated. I also love good branding.

I am a fan of many styles, easier to just say I'm not into the more generic types of mid-strength blonde/golden/amber/kolsch/helles etc.

But hoppy, sour, smoky, roasty, buggy, that's what I like.

I rate beer on that long-forgotten website and basically just like things that are new to me.

Anything that tastes good is fine by me. However, my two favourite 'categories', if you can call it that, are:

    1) session-alble low abv (3%-6%) beers such as IPA's, witbiers, goses, saisons, etc. Pretty much anything that tastes great and is low abv. so I can open 1 or 2 by myself on a work night and still be functional the next morning.

    2) high ABV barrel ages stouts, porters, old ales and the like. Basically things I can share, and that will age for a long time, as the opportunity to open this is not as frequent as I would like.

Note that the above is just a general guideline, and really the bottom line is "does it taste good"?

Some specific favs: anything Hopfenstark, Maltstrom IXPL, DDC Blanche the Paradise, DDC BA Peche or Aphrod..

Also- I am always seeing pictures posted of Sawdust City's Viva La Stout, but never seem to come across any. So in case you have access....

    To my sender-

I'm into Saisons - both mixed ferment and clean, Lagers - leaning towards more classic Czech and German inspired stuff but also the NZ and Italian inspired ones, BA Stouts and Barleywines, well done wood aged Sours and Wild Ales, NEIPA (freshness is really key on this one). Generally a fan of most well done Belgian inspired stuff.

Not a fan of enamel stripping acidity, lactose, smoothy/slushie sours, or pumpkin in beer. German wheat beers can jump off a cliff for all I care.

    • "Limited-release" lagers that many breweries are doing these days (e.g. Godspeed's Czech lagers are very exciting to me, Dageraad's "Dagvar", Sonnen Hill's "Lager Beer", etc.)
    • Big imperial malty beers, especially if barrel-aged. Adjuncts welcome (e.g. Temporal Ales has recently started releasing some "big" beers that I would love to try, Twin Sails does some pretty solid ones as well)
    • Fresh IPAs that have firm bitterness (not a huge fan of hop-bitey haze bombs with no IBUs. Haze is totally fine but gimme some goddamn bitterness to balance the beer.)
    • Bottle-conditioned Belgian-style ales (saisons, wits, golden strongs, Trappist ales, etc.)
    • Well-made classic styles, especially European ones (ESBs or bocks, for example).
    • I'm also happy to take recommendations. If you feel strongly about something and think I should try it, then please-- send it!
    • Random/unique beers are fun to try too-- if it's spicy, has some wacky ingredients, or is unique in some other way, I do like to experiment (unless it's crazy sour!).
    Dislikes
    • I generally dislike and am not interested in sours. The only "sour" beers that are interesting to me these days are spontaneously-fermented beers (read: Lambic & adjacent).
    • I think that's really it? Otherwise, if it's made well and you think it's worth including, I'll probably be just fine with your choice.

    Thanks for humouring me! :heavymetal:

My go-to styles from top to the bottom:

My crash are malty monsters. Strong Imperial stouts or porters, Barleywine, Wheat wine, Scotch ales, Belgium Quads. If they are barrel aged it makes me even happier.

I really like fresh hoppy beers IPA/DIPA/TIPA/QIPA and all the variations.

Pretty open to complex and "layered" beers like Lambics or Saisons with spontaneus fermentation.

    Don't mind sour beers.

    Dislikes:
Not a big fan of classic and "crispy" beers. Would rather pass on Lagers, Pilsners, ESB, classic ales.
