More sugar results in more carbonation. You can use whatever kind (of simple sugar) you want. Use a carbonation calculator. Thare are many on the internet.
I use corn sugar for bottle conditioning. There are many preferences on amount. Usually I use 5 oz per 5 gallons for iOS and pales. Stouts get 4 oz. best of luck.
I used to use cane sugar exclusively. I seemed to get an aftertaste from corn sugar that I did not like. Use a carbonation calculator and get a cheap kitchen scale and you have it covered.
Bad idea. Not the use of cane sugar. The idea of "more carbonation". More is too much. Unless you don't have enough, then it's only just enough. You want to calculate the proper amount of sugar to prime to the proper amount of carbonation. Don't guess or screw with the calculator. Or, bottle bombs. Cheers.
Wow, what a nice fly comeback. How's yer toes??? Well, must have been a great afternoon cause I see I wrote corn instead of cane. Sorry.
People who like bombs do this. I find the standard amount of priming sugar (4-5 oz or 3/4 cup for 5 gallons) to be too much for most styles already. Use a priming calculator and always round down, not up. Never use extra unless you too like bombs.
