I am currently involved in a mystery beer box group, the rule this time is that you can only ship cans. My target is on the east coast and I'm in WI. What canned beer would you send? I have a good idea of 5 or 6 that I am going to send. Seems that there aren't too many quality canned beers available to me. I interested in what you all have to say!

    In WI? Ummmmm....Pabst?

I suppose some Supper Club maybe? or some Point offerings? If you can go outside of WI, Finch's makes some good stuff.

What part of wisconsin? And do they have to be WI brews?

I'm in the Milwaukee area. They don't have to be strictly WI brews, but stuff from the Midwest for sure. MKE brewing seems to be the only local brewery using cans. Sprecher and Leinies is sold all over, I didn't realize the reach so far.

Brewery Vivant out of Grand Rapids. Founder's All Day IPA, Bell's Oberon, Bell's Two Hearted is starting to can Two Hearted. They haven't hit distribution yet.

Can you get to Chicago? Half Acre has amazing stuff in cans.

Chicago is less than a 2 hour drive. If I get down there before I have to send my box I can pick some up. Not sure I want to make the journey just to get beer to send to someone.

If you end up making a trip to Chicago, I'd include some Revolution beers to your list.

Isn't Surly in Chicago now? They have many good cans of beer.

So make the trip about you too, and not just to get beer to ship out. Find some stuff for yourself. Hit up a couple bars in town that you enjoy. It doesn't have to be just beer to send away.

That said, I'm on board with the Brewery Vivant, Half Acre and Surley suggestions.

If you can find Lucette beers they are solid. Best part they are a 6 pack of pounders for around $9! Facebook page said they have some distribution in that area. Good luck!

These may be all Chicago area but.... Half Acre - Heyoka, Daisy Cutter. Revolution - Anti Hero, Eugene. Surly - Coffee Bender, Furious, Abrasive. Also..Founders Centennial IPA but they may be readily available for most you would send to.

If you don't want to make the trek into Chicago hit up the Binnys in either Buffalo Grove or Highland Park (both about 1hr15min from Milwaukee). You'll be able to find Half Acre, Revolution, Surly and maybe some Spiteful (not sure if they distribute cans to either of those locations or not). Do the person you're sending these beers to a favor and send them the good stuff in the Chicago market.

Anything from Lucette Brewing Company would be a good (if it distributes to Milwaukee). We get them in Madison. They come in 16 oz. cans and sell by the 6-pack for less than 10 dollars - brewed in Menominee.

Around Chicago you can get: Avery, Finch's, Oskar Blues, Revolution, Ska, Sixpoint, Surly, Tallgrass, Two Brothers in cans and probably several others I am missing.

Midwestern beer that I personally love in cans: Revolution Anti-Hero, Surly Overrated, Vivant Triomphe, Two Brothers SideKick, Tallgrass Ethos, Surly Abrasive, Two Brothers Night Cat, Half Acre Akari Shogun

Other solid ideas: Surly Coffee Bender, Half Acre Daisy Cutter, Oskar Blues Ten Fidy, Sixpoint Resin, Founders All Day IPA

We do get Spiteful beers, but not their cans. AFAIK those are only sold to a dozen or so stores in the city. Revolution sixers are on sale all month long, as are Two Bros SideKick and Outlaw (but not Night Cat).
