Thinking of taking a drive up to Portland from Long Island in late Feb.-early March. Can anyone help me with the availability of cans at the breweries??? Limits and/or pricing would be helpful. Is it easier to buy cans retail or at the breweries??? Availability midweek or better on weekends??? I'm not keen on buying any more growlers (I have too many as it is) and am really just interested in stocking up my car with cans. Thanks for any help anyone can give.
Check out Bissell’s facebook page, I believe they are the only Portland brewery with a release schedule on cans that goes out far. For the other breweries it’s too early to tell, but Foundatiom generally has a wide selection at all times.
Warbyjones is spot on, Bissell posts their list out far. Foundation almost always has a good amount of options and Austin St. has been pumping them out too. Battery Steele runs out sometimes but usually will have a few options available. Another option for you is to keep an eye on the Bier Cellar website/twitter. You can order many of the brews and they hold for you to pick up. You can have a good selection ready for you when you arrive. Not the super limited, but a lot of good stuff.
Check out banded horn on the way, and i'm not sure if you're using "Cans" as a replacement for packaged beer, but there's places like allagash, liquid riot, foundation, and oxbow that sell bottles.
Swing into Stoneface in Newington, NH (five minutes off I-95 before you cross the NH/ME border) as they always have a strong can selection available. Could be a good place to stop for lunch and grab a few samples as well.
Bunker has had a good selection of cans every time I've visited. It's on the way to Bissell out of town and is a great stop in and of itself. (Love their decor and vibe and beer so much!)
